Doc doesn't want Nuggets to have too much Boban, or else they'll figure him out and counter accordingly. Denver already has. Boban, and the Clippers as a whole, no longer has that "surprise" factor they can use to stump opponents like lowly lottery teams usually do. Without a superstar, they're a lottery team pretending to be a playoff contender in order to impress and recruit Kawhi Leonard.

If the Clippers can change their philosophy by making their schemes be about the game and not their resume, which is what I'm seeing based on their play, they'll be able to right this ship.

"one of the greatest Clipper players to, uh, play, and.......you know, I hope the fans, get, give Blake Gri-Griffin the respect he deserve"

the only ex-jock I ever heard who was worse was Pete Rose
and they restricted him to pre- and postgame
not gamecasts

it's actually insulting to the broadcasting profession
what Cosell called the 'jockocracy'

I hope Fox comes to its senses
Corey's worse than Stu Lantz
and that's

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

True dat!

Waiting for Luc to come back, I reckon

except he's always 2 weeks away

he's been 2 weeks away for like 20 weeks

Indeed. Idk what happened to him. He always looks off balance every time he shoots now. It's weird.

Yah, you got this one, I think. Looks like the game is now going too fast for him. And as a PF, he's first and foremost supposed to be in the paint scrapping. Stretch 4s are nice but you're supposed to be both crashing the boards and hitting 3s. Plus playing defense, yes?

I don't hate the guy. He doesn't dog it. So let's not give up on him yet. Wasn't he a genius "Jerry West signing?" Jerry can do no wrong.

But yeah, I'm a little WTF too. I'm gonna stay with hoping Luc can come back and take his minutes. Crap rebounder too but a plus defender and can stick the 3 just as well.

Gallo and Tobias had off nights (36 points combined) but they cant take all the blame when the 3 other starters combined for 11 points and 3 assists. Considering how other teams often only have to guard Gallo and Tobias I'm surprised they do not have more off nights. They need some help. They can't be counted on to do it all for the starters.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Nothing a Kawhi Leonard couldn't fix.

And although we only scored 100 last night, the rub remains defense. Even though Avery is sucking again offensively, Shai's lousy plus-minus has been the stat that's been jumping out and why Ty Wallace has been getting more minutes. It's been a team suckage.

Clippers’ defense remains concern in 121-100 loss to Nuggets

https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/la-sp-clippers-nuggets-20190110-story.html

“We got ... whooped,” said Gallinari, who scored 18 points against his former team. Williams scored a team-high 19 points, Harris added 18 and Harrell scored 16.

Nuggets guards found little stopping their drives through the first layer of Los Angeles’ defense and, when weakside help didn’t arrive, they resulted in easy baskets by center Nikola Jokic. Jokic had 18 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, including an assist where, in one fluid motion, he collected a rebound with his right hand, spun and lofted a pass downcourt into Jamal Murray’s hands for a transition layup. Murray scored a game-high 23 points.

The Clippers’ slow start showcased again their on-and-off effort to begin games. Consistency remains elusive.

“They played with an extreme amount of focus, confidence and intensity,” Rivers said. “I didn’t think we met that. That’s on me.”

No area, though, requires more improvement in the second half as the defense that is far from the “Clamp City” unit that was said to have the potential to rank among the league’s 10 best.

Coming off multiple abdominal surgeries last spring, Avery Bradley has yet to return to his lockdown form. Another player expected to be pivotal, Luc Mbah a Moute, has barely played because of injury. No player has been immune to the struggles that have left them tied for 23rd in defensive efficiency.

“Definitely not where we should want to be,” Bradley said. “The best teams in this league, the teams that compete for championships, are top-five defenses. ”

Said Gortat: “We need the killer instinct in order to be a good playoff team.”
