Lou and Toboas played great tonight. Although I have to state the obviously that we should have beaten Bulls easier. We felt the need of another shooter tonight too.

What if the only reason Shai-Guy is getting minutes as a starter was for the purpose of trading him? This would be quite unusual for a Jerry West-operated team in that he always keeps his lottery picks. He traded Vlade Divac for a pick as a Laker GM (#13, Kobe Bryant), he traded a pick (#12, Miles Bridges) for a pick (#11, Shai) as consultant general advisor for Clippers - both teams involving Hornets. Shai is supposed to be the Clippers future: players would like to play for him, Durant was even on the record praising Shai. For West to trade Shai would be a blunder of apocalyptic proportions, one which could permanently damage Clippers reputation and his... even if there is a full-fledged plan involved. Let me explain.

Remember when the Celtics traded the farm for two superstars in Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett? Celtics had assets, tons. There was a no. 5 pick (Jeff Green) and their past 1st round pick of Delonte West that was used to trade for Allen, and their 2009 1st round pick (top 3 protected), Timberwolves 2009 1st round conditional pick from a previous trade with Wolves plus three of their past 1st round picks in Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Gerald Green (plus two veterans) for Garnett. Those trade by Danny Ainge gave Doc Rivers his first ever ring. Could West be doing his best Ainge imitation? Keep in mind the Clippers don't have a gloried history like Lakers or past championship experience like Warriors; they're more akin to a Grizzlies team new to the league and was looking for ways to be relevant. The kicker with Clippers is they've been here longer and plain stunk. West is feeling the ropes to determine if the Clippers work best with draft development and honest free agency like Lakers/Warriors, or the asset collection and trading agency like Ainge's Celtics.

Don't buy into this, it's just my typical tinfoil hat scenario where I'm spitballing to see which notes stick. I would prefer Clippers keep Gilgeous-Alexander and promote their youth. They'll be contenders down the line, just not now.

I know the Bulls have a horrible record but every win counts in this playoff race. It was a much needed road win. Hats off to Big Lou!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Every game counts for sure. Just like last year, there maybe only 1 game difference between 8th seed and 10th in standings. Or between 4 and 6, etc.

Jerome Robinson looks like a very solid player. I really hope Doc continues to give him substantial minutes

Looks to be the case since he's taken over Wallace and Thornwell's place in the rotation. Their lack of shooting was hurting the Clippers despite the positives they bring defensively.

Just got back to LA and threw on my DVR of the 2nd half:

So far, let's be clear--Rome contributes nothing defensively. He was playing like a cornerback who gives his man a 10-yard pad. Just keep your man in front of you and don't get burned. He didn't get burned, really. He gave it effort.

And on the other hand, the opps don't even bother to guard Ty. I'm skipping wtching the first half, but I wouldn't bother guarding Sindarius either. They are bigger zeroes in the offensive scheme than Rome is on the defense.

Watching what Avery and especially Pat Bev did defensively in the final 2 minutes tells you what D really is. LOL--esp 6' Pat defending 7' Markkanen in the post? And BLOCKING him?!!!! That was sick.

So when we talk about defense, there's no-defense [Milos], nominal defense [Rome, Lou], good, tight defense [Ty, Sindarius] and attacking defense [Pat, Avery].

And so, all that said, I agree Rome is ready to take minutes from the G-Leaguers, Ty and Sindarius. Rome is no slacker on D, and those two 3-ppinters he nailed while we made the comeback in the 4thQ were key--the margin of victory. He earned every one of his 17 minutes Friday.

Shai, I dunno. Didn't see the first half, but a team-worst plus/minus [minus-7; Pat and Avery were a team high plus+13 and +8 respectively]. Rome got some of Shai's minutes too.
