Bruce Bowen's firing was a mixed bag; he didn't captivate the audience as well as they hoped, but it was his comments on future free agent Kawhi Leonard that got himself axed, leaving Ralph Lawler stranded without a partner. Observing the possible candidates and philosophical ideals in another thread has influenced me to make this poll.
What are you looking for the most in Lawler's future partner?
Is it a big name outside the Clippers circle...
Somebody from within who used to play, coach, or work for the Clippers in the past...
A witty play-by-play guy who can connect with Lawler...
A play-by-play guy who can cover the Clippers opponents impartialy without coming across as a homer...
Or just someone who loves the Clippers and respects them for who they are, regardless of their losing history?
The poll will be left open for 17 days.

I think the ship has sailed for mike smith but I wish they would bring him back. He was fairly knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. I felt like they kind of did him dirty.
If not him I would like Don Maclean if he is willing to travel. He knows basketball really well and isn’t afraid to voice criticism when it is warranted

Re: What Are You Looking For In A Commentator?
Am I the only one mostly focused on the game. Bowen was no different than many of the other 30-40 play by play and color commentary guys if you ask me. I've had League Pass of years now and lot of these local commentating teams are homers and blowhards. I've heard them all. Maybe you hated Bowen cause you miss Michael Smith but Bowen technically wasn't any worse or a notch under than other announcing teams in other markets. If anything my question is how did a hardcore Spur guy get a Clipper color commentating gig?

"It's not the how you must master, it's the why." - Joan B. Lee, Spider Man: The Animated Series
Relevancy reasons. Clippers had the reputation of complainers, whiners and poor sports. They usually had the most technical fouls out of any team in the league, and at one point, led the league in ejections in the early quarter of the 2015-16 season (months following their 3-1 collapse). "The Spurs are a class organization with no egos or soloists, they do it as a unit, they play for the good of basketball, let's hire somebody from the Spurs to prove we are heading in the right direction."
As this is a TV-made decision, I cannot call this a Doc move. But his firing with relation to the Leonard free agency angle is a bit suspect given the timing, so this may or may not be a Jerry West move. Most likely, it's coming from Ballmer.

Being entertaining and knowledgeable, that's about it. Help enhance the game experience. Couldn't care less about his/her background or relation to the team, I just want someone that makes watching the games better.

Kick Ryan Hollins to the Curb, Please
With Ryan Hollins siding with Rondo over Paul in that melee on the Lakers' homecourt, I don't want to see Hollins in the post-game show nevermind filling in the role as color commentator. Like he knows what it takes to win, so why do we have to listen to him and endure his phony mug on TV screens?

By all means let's destroy people's careers because we don't like their opinions.
I'm still a huge Chris Paul fan, but he IS a dick, tbh.
