Some guys have struggled, but it was encouraging to see the youngin's shine. I really liked SGA in college and was thrilled when we drafted him. His poise, the cool, calm and collected demeanor, slithery play, and of course his measurements were enough to be excited about. He looked like a player that you could pencil in for 10 years.
During this season, he showed flashes of much more than that. This playoff experience should go a long way for his development. On one hand, it would have been nice to face off against an "easier" opponent in the first round. However, having to go up against the defending champions should not only boost his confidence, but also highlight just how important it is to put in the work to take his game to the next level. Throughout the season, he was asked about being intimidated by certain match-ups or having that shook moment when you're a rookie facing off against one of the league's top players (e.g. Curry, Lillard, Durant, Harden, Lebron, etc.). He always dismissed that notion. He was never shaken and never stirred. He always felt like he belonged and never really saw his opponents as anything other than mortal. To some, that could come off as foolish arrogance, but having such a confidence in yourself is such a huge part of the battle. I'm excited to see what he does over the summer.
It was a little surprising, but nice to see Robinson get non-garbage time minutes and actually produce. He has not really shown what he can be capable of this season. Only 31.6% from 3 on the season, when that's supposed to be one of his strong suits. My concerns/hopes for Robinson upon drafting him were that he would need to put in work on his defense and his off-ball movement. Offensively, Shamet plays more like how I hoped Robinson could become. I'm far from writing him off. For Shai and Shamet to have sizable roles on the team should tell Robinson that's not just about the inexperience for PT. If he shows he can consistently produce more often than not, he can carve out a role in the rotation. Unfortunately, that opportunity could change depending on what happens in the offseason.
