It was a good feeler game. One of the areas of improvement is just offensive decision making which is easy to fix. We didn't play small ball all game until the last 4 minutes of the game, but didn't even play it right. The point of having Marcus Morris at the 5 is to space and let others drive. Instead he took it to the rim against Embid and forced shots at the end. Definitely something we can fix, remember this is the first game for Kawhi with Mook, these things take some time.

Sham finished a quiet plus+6. One of those guys who just does. 1 reb, zero assists, zero TOs, 1 PF. He was minus-8 at one point then started burying threes [5] for 19 points. Doc leaves him out there because his plus/minus always seems to take care of itself.
NB: This was more true of last year--Sham has struggled this year getting his feet under himself but has really been coming around lately. And unlike Redick, he seems to have some 4th quarter mojo about him.
As for your reservations about PG's make-up...oy. Everybody has a bad game now and then, but tonight he was mediocre, which is much more concerning. He did have 5 assists and 12 rebs. But just a Tobias-level performance would have got us the W.

I don't mind that be had a bad game. It happens. It's how he responds to having bad games that annoy me and that makes me question him as kawhi's cohort.
Coming up with excuses, blaming refs, pushing down Simmons. Just play basketball. Refs suck but so what . Kawhi was frustrated to but played cool and never allowed his game to get flustered.
PG has had some great games. Against Miami, he was great, Houston. He was great though we lost that one.
So I'm not going to say he's washed. I don't think SGA is better than a slumping PG. I don't get the overreaction about PG is the reason Leonard is going to leave reactions. Leonard is the one who said go get him.
They just need more reps. This loss Is a good learning experience. They were in the game for most of the game. A trench game. I liked it. I'm not even upset.

I liked us with only 9 TOs despite a lot of new combinations. No scatter-ass, as Larry Brown used to call it. We played seriously, with purpose.
That was also the first time Doc went all-small in crunchtime all year, I think, pulling Trezz despite both Embiid and Horford on the floor. And it sort of worked, too. A nice desperation move, when a desperation move was called for!!

ok, that's bad
real bad
that was a total mental
lapse/laziness/whatever
there is gonna be some internal discussion of this video
Lou, find a man, grab him by the balls, and follow him wherever he goes on the court

It's not only bad. It's Lou. The loss doesn't have me sulking but when I see possessions like this when he just ballwatches, it sucks.

trezz ballwatches too, misses rotations but he's not as bad as lou at it. Lou repeatedly gets caught napping. We don't have much of a defensive second unit.

LMAO, Nippy embarrassing himself again with his low IQ takes

I love Lou and he has hit a good number of clutch shots wearing a Clippers uniform. With the addition of Morris, I am not even sure Lou should finish close games in the 4th because he's such a liability on defense, even worse than Jamal Crawford was.

THAT might be something to look for on the buyout market, a defensive ace. As the Sixers are my hometown team and I still follow them [although the Clippers are my #1 squeeze], I was going to alert everybody to Thybulle. Even though he finished at minus-4, his defense is sick.
Doc likes a cohesive [5-man] 2nd unit, but tonight was maybe the first glimpse of our playoff rotation with interchangeable parts. That would start with Shamet's 36 minutes off the bench tonight, actually.
J-Myke is on my shittlist just as Harkless was. Clockwatchers, paycheck collectors. I think McGruder gives his best, but that's meh at best.
So we have the starting 5
Zubac
Kawhi
PG
MM
Bev
and Shamet as the actual 6th man, most likely to play with either the 1st or 2nd units
then Lou and Trezz as the 2nd unit
that's our playoff 8
a buyout guy--the bigger the better--who can defend at an "A" level could get some minutes
that's what I saw tonight vs the Sixers
on to Boston!
let's beat those bitches

He shouldn't. I didn't notice he gave up those possessions but now that I did I can't help but notice to be upset. I didn't like his fadeaway three down 1 either. Should have reset and got a better shot.LamarWho wrote:I love Lou and he has hit a good number of clutch shots wearing a Clippers uniform. I can't wait for Bev to come back.

To beat teams in the East you need to really, really beat them.
The NBA is terrified that the Raptors are going to make a playoff run again.
The NBA will keep pushing its favorite eastern team, the Celtics.
But that does not mean no call is too goofy to help the 76'ers.
It's not an anti - Clippers thing. It's an anti Raptors thing, and anything that helps hurt the Raptors is good for the broadcast partners.

In fairness, the Sixers pretty much played a perfect game, which they do at home but not on the road. Any team that can play a perfect game can win and that's what it's gonna take to beat us.
I mean, PG and Lou went 8-30 combined from the field and we were still in it.
