Man, if we could somehow beat both Houston and the Lakers, I'm going to let anything slide until the playoffs. Lose to the G-League Warriors? Whatever. Blow a 20 point lead in New York? It happens. I just want us to finish this week strong.

Well it won't take much, considering how fearful the Lakers are of us.
And Houston just lost to the Knicks....

Westbrook hates Clippers,no doubt he will be on fire.
But we could play small ball game also;Beverley-Lou-PG-Kawhi-Morris.

I don't think the lakers fear us. I think if they can beat the bucks on friday, they roll into our matchup with confidence. Even though kawhi is a different animal.

Exactly, the Lakers can never prepare for Kawhi.
The biggest nightmare of LeBron's career.

Eh I wouldn't say never. They're professionals. It's just what can they do to guard kawhi when there's so many offensive weapons?Clippers2020 wrote:NippySudz wrote:Clippers2020 wrote:Well it won't take much, considering how fearful the Lakers are of us.

If you adjust to play their style you lose. If you are the better team, you make them adjust to you.

It is win time now. We are at 5 straight wins. Our longest stretch this season is 7. If we match it, then we beat the Rockets and Lakers to do that. If we can stretch a win streak out to 15-20 games, then we put the pressure squarely on the Lakers for the #1 seed. Nothing better than to run off a long win streak and force the Lakers to play out the season to gain the #1.
Lakers having to push to the end of the season to retain the #1 spot and then run into a young, hungry, fearless Griz team could be a very bad thing for them in the 1st round. They don't have a major size advantage over the Girz and the Griz youth will put pressure on the Lakers older, slower vets. The Lakers need to be able to rest their vets, so they are fresh for the Griz.

i think we have a reasonable shot to overtake them for the #1 seed.
i think psychologically that would be pretty impactful during the playoffs as well.

Not unless we can go on an extended winning streak. If we win 4-5 and then lose 1, we aren't catching them. We just just need to keep the pressure on them. A nice long 10-15 game win streak that puts the Clippers in the news as the 'hottest team in the NBA" would put the pressure on the Lakers.
Losing so many right after the Morris trade really hurt our chances to catch them. We gave up 3 games to them over the last 10. It is an uphill battle now.

Lakers are 6 games up in the loss column and have 22 left. 16-6 and us winning 21 in a row seems unlikely. Meanwhile, AD played 38 minutes last night, Kawhi was our high with only 32.
Just keep doing what we're doing. What we really need to do is experiment with our small ball lineup, which could give Trezz his 4th quarter rest and match up with Houston's no-center attack.

It doesn't matter anyway, especially if we keep winning why win on Sunday. The psychological effect will be there. They couldn't beat the clippers at less than full strength the first meeting, the second meeting, the whole team minus kawhi had a good showing, Lakers had their best showing and still lostclipperlover wrote:nickhx2 wrote:i think we have a reasonable shot to overtake them for the #1 seed.

If we win again now, full strength and everyone shows up, kawhi, PG,Lou, etc then it's going to be psychologically challenging for them they still have LeBron who's been through adversity so don't ever count them out but backsides will be tight in the playoffs if that happens whether it's first seed or second seed

We have a say in 2 games against the Lakers. I wouldn't count us out.
There's 3 back to backs left on the schedule, each one of those back to backs has winnable games on it.
Nonetheless, I only care about making sure we are in the 2 slot and have HCA in the first two rounds. We aren't going to have HCA if we see the Lakers in the CF and if the Lakers aren't in the CF, then we have HCA.
Also, Houston is snug in the 4 seed for now, being 3 behind Denver (obviously they have a much better shot at getting the 3 than we do of getting the 1) but maybe we beat Houston tonight and give Denver some help in holding onto the 3. The Lakers can enjoy Russ and Harden in the 2nd round.

Oh I'm not counting us out but just because we have two wins doesn't mean much. Just means the clippers are trending in the right direction.Quake Griffin wrote:We have a say in 2 games against the Lakers. I wouldn't count us out.

I dont see Denver holding that number 3 seed or coming out of the first round. They took San Antonio to seven games last yr. If they meet OKC or Luka and the Mavs they're done. Imo. Jokic doesn't know or care to take over games when they need him the most and as a result of that, they lose
He scored just 16pts against the warriors. Warriors who had no bigs.

Denver in the next Rnd... without Home Court... is trouble.
We gotta get the 2nd Seed.
Denver has continously proved they're more pretender than contender. And the home court advantage they have in the regular season doesn't translate to the playoffs. The reason they have advantage in the regular season is because teams are in and out and don't have time to adjust to the altitude. In the playoffs, that's not the case as teams will be there days in advance and their bodies get acclimated to the altitude and negating the edge they have in the regular season.
Acclimatizing to altitude can put you out of sorts for a few days... so even if Game Day is on day 3 or 4 of being in Denver, it's still affecting the team and their preparation (and mode, etc). And then there's the cardio aspect.
