For all the Blake haters - CP3 is crapping the bed (in very familiar fashion) against the exact same Bucks team that Blake stepped up against. This is despite all the ref help that the Suns were getting tonight.

Was anyone in this thread "hating" on Blake, who in the world are you referencing your post to?

Come on, this is even embarassing for you. Paul and Blake are in totally different roles at this point, comparing a role player and a star this way doesn't make much sense. Blake stepping up as a role player without much defensive focus is different than a past prime but still playing at star level Paul having a terrible game vs the Bucks with Holiday full court pressing him the whole game. Blake was basically playing Cam Johnson's role if you want to compare among the two teams. I know you're quite aware of this though, but willfully ignoring things is fun sometimes too.

The Nets went up 2-0 vs the Bucks, reasonable, they had HCA, they then lost a close game 3, then lost game 4 where Irving also went down for them half way through. Both teams after 4 games are in the same position, tied 2-2. Are you going to say "good job Paul he stepped up" if he plays well the rest of the series and the Suns lose? Nope, so why reference Blake vs the Bucks?

Paul was laughably bad in the game though, looking somewhat like the "I can't dribble with one hand" version of him vs the Lakers with how loose he was with his handle. Basically he would have been better off just shooting the ball every time he had a turnover trying while to make a pass to someone else. Embarassing performance, especially with how well Booker did.

CP took a kid team to the Finals and earned every penny. Blake stole the Pistons' money for two years and they paid him to go away. The only place he ever led his team--Clippers or the Pistons--was to the nearest bar.

Then he latched onto a desperate Nets team and did slightly better than Austin did for the Nugs.

Blake stepped up beyond anyone's expectations, despite having a tough defensive assignment and a bigger role than he was supposed to be taking on. CP3 is shrinking from the moment.

I'd say the comparison is totally valid. What's embarrassing is CP3's performance. He should be thanking his lucky stars that he got to face a backcourt of Campazzo and Austin Rivers for a whole series, otherwise his playoff run would be looking a lot different right now.

Sidekick, come on fam we aren't all idiots here, we watch the games too. You're basically willing to discredit yourself as having any basketball understanding just to maintain a narrative about Paul and Griffin.

4th quarter minutes:
Game 5: Blake - 0 minutes
Game 6: Blake - 0 minutes
Game 7: Blake - 6 minutes (3 pts, 1ast, 1/2 FG)

I'm going to wait and see what Paul's 4th quarter minutes are in games 5, 6, and possibly 7, then we can determine if they have the same role on their respective teams after BKN suffered injuries.

Long version:

Spoiler:
If he was just their sidekick in the same sense that Blake was in Brooklyn after injuries, then we wouldn't even have expectations from him on a game to game basis. Blake was just one of Durant's role players, we weren't analyzing his play each game.

No one cared when Blake had 7, 5 and 8 pts in games 2, 3 and 4 vs Milwaukee, just like no one cares about how many points Cam Johnson scores each game.

You can't have it both ways, Paul can't have the same role as Blake then get the criticism of a star while Blake didn't even get mentioned in losses.

You can play mental gymnastics to try and equate their roles but even you don't actually believe what you are saying (at least I hope not).

CP playoffs:
33.8 mpg, 18.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 8.7 apg

CP since the Denver series:
36.6 mpg, 23.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 9.1 apg

CP vs Milwaukee
37.3 mpg, 21.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 8.3 apg

Blake playoffs:
26.5 mpg, 9.0 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.8 apg

Blake vs Milwaukee:
30.8 mpg, 12.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.7 apg

Blake vs Milwaukee last three games:
33.3 mpg, 15.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.0 apg

Vs Lakers Paul had the nerve injury, barely shot and could barely dribble.

Vs Denver: Paul 25.5 ppg, Booker 25.3 ppg, Ayton 14.3 ppg
Vs Clippers: Booker 25.5 ppg, Paul 24.0 ppg, Ayton 17.8 ppg
Vs Milwaukee: Booker 27.5 ppg, Paul 21.0 ppg, Ayton 14.0 ppg

The minutes alone tell you how different their roles on the teams are, without even going into anything else. So one player is the primary playmaker, primary ball handler, leading or second leading scorer in 3/4 series', 7 games 20+ pts, 3 games 30+ pts as a "sidekick". The other player had a playoff high of 18 pts and is just catching and shooting and finishing off others because injuries have set him back, and the two "basically have the same role". Yikes! You need to frame this argument and caption it, "the time I went full crazy".

Couldn't help but feel a bit sad for CP3 as I watched the last minutes of the game, and his best shot for a championship ring fizzled.
The Clipper fan understands the Book of Exodus better than anyone... what it's like to struggle 40 years in the wilderness... and Genesis.. why Cain went after Abel... So fLakers, look out... we're coming.

26 points, went down swinging. But lucky to go 6, really. And never would have got through a full-strength Clippers team. For once in his life, the injury breaks went his way.

Not I. The way he and Phoenix acted in that game 6 against the Clippers, I was happy to see that little dirty, flopping player lose.

seriously, mods

I know you're trying to be a bridge over troubled water and keep the peace around here
but even the non-Clippers threads are polluted with this narrative over and over no matter how moronic you show it to be

let's not even get into Blake's anemic numbers, these are CP's

37 mpg
21.8 ppg
55% FG
52% 3-pt
8.7 apg
2.7 rpg

This is a Finals MVP performance if they'd won

you/we really need to stop feeding this behavior with attention, which is all it wants
same sh** year after year

Actually, the Zubac injury in Game 4 played a factor in us not winning that game. We didn't even need Kawhi. No doubt in my mind that had Zu not gotten injured, we would have beat the Suns. Zu was hobbled the entire 4th quarter in Game 4 and didn't get to the FT line after having been there 4 times in the 3rd. We still had plenty of opportunity to win that game.
