Anyone else find Zubac's "we have Ty Lue," comment in the post game interview hilarious in a good way? He continued with something to the effect of, he knows how to put people on the right spots and knows how to make sure everyone knows what they are supposed to do.

Lue really has the trust and confidence of his players.

I honestly don't think there's a better coach in the league 8-)

Tuned in with only a few minutes left in the 4th, so basically every Mavs possession was Luka torching Zu. But figured there was a reason for him still being out there, and sure enough the box score showed Luka having an inefficient game up to that point.
Props to Ty for sticking with Zu to the end, despite those rough moments. Sometimes you just have to live with a great player getting favorable switches and making shots late in the game, especially if you were doing a decent job containing him for most of the game, despite missing your two best defenders.

We were up 8 with just over a minute left and still had to dodge a bullet on that last shot, but I can't really blame Reggie & Terance for missing clutch FTs, since they were both playing great. Playoff Reggie is still alive and kicking. Put him next to Kawhi, PG, Norm, maybe Mook, if he's still around next season, and you have a lot of bucket getters out there.

Hoping Norm's "turf toe" doesn't result in season ending surgery like it did with Scrubb.

Btw, could we move on from Jasen Powell already? Surely there are other better options out there and he seems to be the only left from the old regime. I know you're reading this, Mr. Ballmer, so please look into it.

Oh, and for as great as he is, this body language is just embarrassing:

Loved seeing Mann be aggressive. Hopefully we see more of that.

So first there was the whiny "I've earned that" rant from Doc, and now this equally whiny "I don't deserve that" rant from Luka.

I was screaming at the TV "For God's sake get Zu out and put RoCo in!". It was literally guarantee 2 or 3 points for them every trip in the last 3 mins or so.

Ty: We held them under 100 points and Doncic had 8 assists but also 7 turnovers

he also shot 15-33--he was 17-26 Thursday night :dontknow:

man as much of a talent luka is, it sure would be tough to root for him if we had somehow found a way to draft him

Luka scored Dallas' last 19 points to finish the game, he had 23 alone in the fourth. We had an 8 point lead with 1:08 to go and honestly, some of us thought we were gonna lose to a Luka buzzer beater at the end.

Ty Lue's "I trust Zu" game plan down the stretch almost cost us the game. If you gonna leave Zu out there, at least throw some double team at Luka and see if guys like Dorian Finney Smith can beat us. I ain't even mad at those step back 3s, got so used to those after the post season last year. But allowing him to take Zu to the rim with zero help is just inexcusable.

Gives me flashbacks to how Cuttino would disrupt Dirk by crowding him at the beltline - not worrying about what his arms were doing above Cat's head.

I would get over it very quickly- his whining is definitely irritating but his talent outweighs it

The rest of the Mavs were 20-for-52 [38%]. Doncic had 8 assists and 7 turnovers. The Mavs only outpointed us 30-29 in the 4th.

Read on Twitter

Two nights after coach Tyronn Lue described himself as “stubborn” for allowing Zubac to be switched onto Doncic so easily, he instead doubled down, inviting the kind of matchup some coaches would try to hide — a gamble that rested on goading Doncic’s pride in a move that was both counter-intuitive but also wildly transparent: Here’s the matchup you want. Now try to beat us as a scorer alone.

“I don’t care if he had 90,” Lue said. “Hats off to him for playing great but I thought the team did a helluva job.”

And that mandate was encapsulated in Zubac’s willingness for “taking the challenge,” as Morris said, against one of the NBA’s most creative scorers, a seven-footer taking on No. 77.

“I know Luka takes it personal that we put Zu on him,” Lue said. “He plays well. But our game plan worked.”
