As the title suggests.
Since Doc Rivers is such a heralded coach, it's only mandatory that we have a thread to discuss our ex coach.
For starters, what grade would you give coach Rivers for his performance this year in Philly?

**NOTE: Unless you actually WATCHED the games, maybe you should sit this one out...**
________________________________________________________________________________________________
As a Philly boy, I did watch maybe 60, and in the playoffs I watched them all.
grade: INCOMPLETE
21 regular season games was not enough to install a new QB, especially at the cost of your best shooter [Curry] and best backup [Drummond].
Pat Bev put it best.

- Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley joined ESPN on Monday morning to discuss all things NBA playoffs, and he went to bat for his former head coach and former teammate.
His explanation of why fans should go easy on the duo was interesting:
"Does [James Harden] come up short in the playoffs? Yeah. But does he hold the weight of a team, of assists, of points? There was a point where [Russell Westbrook] and him were going tit-for-tat in career triple doubles. The man has a bad series and we just write him off like that so fast?
"[...]
"I've played for Doc. As a point guard, it's extremely hard to play for Doc. Extremely hard. Because he demands so much, right? He demands so, so much. As a great coach, you should. So it's an adjustment period. Coming here, halfway during the season, playing in Doc's system - you have to get used to it. It's not a system you can just jump in and just run with it. [JJ Redick] knows that. And also to be put with a ball-dominant center, something he's never had in his career ever before, of course that's going to take time. But now after half a season we're going to sit here and say this man doesn't deserve the max? Like c'mon now, that's not fair."
As Beverley showed Monday morning, he's not in the business of telling half-truths. He's all about honesty. So I do believe him when he says playing for Rivers as a point guard is tough, and I also believe him when he says Harden should probably be given a little more leeway when it comes to adjusting to life as a Sixer.

I mean if you believe it, guess it counts as being honest. Bev also said that Harden should get the "super duper max" based on his past performances alone, because if Philly won't do it, some (he actually used the word "every") other team will. Guess we'll have to see about that.
Back on(off?)-topic, Doc gets an "A" from me for entertainment value. He's becoming more and more spicy with the media whenever they question his decisions, so it should be really fun over the next year, or however long he stays for. The "would you ask Pop that" was probably my favorite soundbite.
As for his coaching, does it even matter? Best a guy can do is throw some players out there and hope for the best. We'll see how the Embiid-Harden relationship develops. Their honeymoon phase ended real quick, now it seems more like troubled marriage territory. If only they had a good counselor to get them through the rough patches.

He's already done that, LOL. One of his excuses for this year's meltdown was that the roster wasn't good enough. Of course, the Dream Team wouldn't be good enough for Glenn.
I'm just surprised he hasn't taken a cue from the Maple Leafs' coach and bragged about how much respect they're getting in the handshake line after one of these chokes. That quote was about as cringe as Doc's "we didn't have Kendrick Perkins," "I inherited a mess from the last front office," "the Warriors are lucky they didn't have to play us," "Lue was sitting next to me, it won't be much different," etc.

Rediscovered this channel after Suns-Mavs G7 and remembered there was a pretty funny clip after the bubble collapse.
