Kawhi [minus-10] and PG [minus-2] are still on self-load management even when they're suited up lol. They did just enough in the 4th quarter to get it done.

Zu and Reggie [both plus+27] saved our ass. They busted it all night--especially in the 4th when they took us from 8 down to an 8-point win.

I thought Mann was active but despite 12 points and 9 rebs, 25 minutes at minus-20 with zero assists is painfully ineffective as your starting point guard. And if you saw that stretch in 4th quarter where the Nets brought the press, our offensive sets COLLAPSED.

Not Mann's fault, but you just can't fake it in the NBA. Not only is Mann not an NBA point guard, he's not even an NBA combo guard.
An NBA combo guard can at least fake it.

One thing I'd like to see more is setting George up with more high post mismatches, and shooting effortless fadeaways like his defender isn't there. He's good at them, and doesn't need to expend a lot of energy on those.

We have a problem that Kawhi and PG are not really running the two-man game. Embiid and Harden are. Stockton and Malone. Magic Johnson and almost anybody.

CP and Blake never did either. CP took the right elbow and BG took the left block. How many assists did they have to each other? How many do KL and PG have? I'm thinking not a lot, even though each has good assist numbers.


You know I love me some Reggie Jackson bigtime. Combo guard Reggie can run the offense like a "game manager" QB. Bring the ball up, initiate the offensive set.

Mann can't even do that. Sorry, folks. Ty gave it a try, no doubt at the insistence of the Front Office and or/Ballmer. The kid is 26 and is never going to be an NBA point guard. He's still starting, but they're not even PRETENDING he's the 1-guard.

But even though i love and respect Reggie, he's still only a combo guard. It takes a real point guard to command the ball, initiate the offense, know people's spots and wave them over to where they need to be. And that's what Kawhi is begging for, and PG would happily give up the job too.

And so would Reggie. He'd LOVE to be the backup point guard on a championship team at age 33, not start and play 30 mpg and take all the blame when they lose.

You do realize that Clippers have a losing record when one of their guys is ejected from a game since 2015-16 season, right? I forgot the numbers since Kawhi Leonard joined the team. Until a couple of months ago, I always operated under the assumption Clippers were winless whenever a player was ejected, so I played the percentages. The fact they were able to win this game after going 55 games without an ejection this season, and following the worst 3-1 collapse in NBA history which forced the franchise to behave like the Good Samaritan Spurs speaks a lot about their desire to become something better.

Unfortunately, thanks to Morris's ejection, critics are going to point to that moment as the catch all to Clipper's entire season. It's another way for them to say, "See, I TOLD YOU SO! Those weird coaching moves, not taking opponents seriously, their six-game losing streak. That ejection is PROOF something's completely wrong with Clippers." So yeah, I do take ejections seriously as part of the team's mental make-up. Imagine how Clippers would have behaved with Irving on the team - dodged a big bullet right there.

What's done is done. Clippers have their first ejection of the season, and now opposing teams will use this fact to their advantage in trade talks. I'd recommend Clippers keep out of the market and hope for a buyout. (And as for Wall, they'll have to just buy him out themselves. Rather that than attach a draft pick like how the previous regime used to do it.)
