Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Malik Rose, Anthony Roberson, Knicks 2nd Round Pick
FOR
Marcus Camby and Mardy Collins
With the salary cap expected to be at about $60 million next year, this trade puts LAC at about $13 million (more like $10 million after you sign your draft pick(s)) below the cap. After making this trade, you guys would have the ability to spend that $10 million in a market where not a lot of teams would be under the cap (as opposed to 2010 when most teams will be under the cap). $10 million should be enough to interest free agents such as Shawn Marion, Ron Artest, Carlos Boozer, Lamar Odom, Allen Iverson, Rasheed Wallace, and more. If you guys would rather have Camby instead of most of those guys, then the trade doesn't make sense. However, if you would prefer those free agents to Camby, then this is a trade that the Clips should consider.

Hinrich, Gooden and '09 1st unprotected for Kaman, R Davis and Hart.
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4844753
That really rounds out your roster nicely at the PF and gaurd spots with a gaurd rotation of Davis, Gordon and Hinrich and a C/PF rotation of Camby/Zbo/Gooden.

What about a deal better than this with OKC-watson and collison plus 2009 spurs 1st and 2010 suns 1st for kaman and hart.Gives Clips a good backup point much cheaper and shorter contract than hinrich and versatile PF/C collison with cap friendly contract and two 1sts over next 2 years to rebuild with youth.OKC solves their center problem and adds a solid starting center to durant, green and westbrook.

Re: This trade solves all Clips problems LAC/MEM
Why would Memphis do that? M. Gasol will be better than Kaman. Lowry > Hart. Darko > P. Davis and they even throw in Q. Ross??? Not to mention the financial implications. This trade works in our favor in every way possible.

Re: This trade solves all Clips problems LAC/MEM
I would argue that Gasol is putting up those numbers with no competition. He's just scooping up rebounds from Mayo and Gay's misses. He has potential but Kaman is locked into a reasonable contract and there's no guarantee they can lock Gasol into the same. Darko Milicic is overpaid for his production and is kind of a whiner. They rarely if ever play Q Ross and don't need a defensive stopper as they are a young team and not a veteran one that is trying to contend. They have logjam at the PG spot which makes Lowry expendable while getting a young big man in return. I would take out the pick swap option and throw in the Minny first.

If you want to solve all the Clippers problems, then you need to find a way to bring Sam Cassell back from 4 years ago. Or bring in somebody who knows how to win games. We need a guy like Chauncey more than Baron right now.

What kind of value do you guys think Camby has right now? I would think with the way he has played lately that he could become a highly sought player for a team who is on the verge of competing for the title and is looking an extra big man who can rebound and block shots to get them over the hump. Then when you consider he comes with a reasonable price and relatively short contract I could see quite a few teams interested in him for the right price. (Miami, Orlando, San Antonio, Detroit, Houston, Toronto.)

I'd rather keep Camby and trade Kaman for an impact starting SG. Camby and Randolph are an effective combo at C/PF and Camby is signed through 2010. Kaman can probably get a solid starting SG that can average over 20 ppg consistently which is what the team needs at this point. Gordon is fine but I think he should be coming off the bench playing around 20 mpg right now.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
I think it depends on what we are trying to build. If you want to build a short term playoff team then trade Kaman. If you are trying to build a team that will compete for the long haul, trade Camby IMO. If you trade Camby, we will be stucking looking for a new Center in 2 years and will have a dilemma on who to start at SG. Whereas if we trade Camby now, we are set at the Center position, by next year we should be fine at SG, and we will have added a solid bench piece through the trade.
We aren't competing this year anyway and Camby will likely be gone after next. We have another 5-7 years to build around Kaman.
I think Camby's trade value, will exceed his value to this team.

cavs fan here, just wanted to know if you would do kaman for wally+09pick?
that way we get another solid big and you get cap relief(for zach, camby and davis big contracts)...also zach and camby would be set for the starting job

I don't think there are any guarantees that Gordon will be a solid starting SG by next season and the Camby/Randolph combination just works better than Kaman/Randolph. Randolph likes to operate in the low post and baseline just like Kaman, whereas Camby operates better from the high post. During last night's broadcast, Ralph and Mike were thinking Camby may have 3-4 good years left so I think the Clippers could possibly sign him for another 2 years after his contract expires in 2010.
Kaman can get more back in a trade than Camby anyway considering his age and ability to score in the low post. I don't think Camby can get the Clippers a starting quality SG under 30 who can hit 3's, where Kaman can. I like Gordon, but at 19 years old, he needs some time to develop and play 20-25 mpg coming off the bench.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Here's a scenario I posted in the Heat forum:
What do you guys think?
Miami: Get a center to rebound and defend...a veteran PG in case Chalmers/Quinn falter...doesn't hurt their plans for 2010
Washington: Salary cap relief...opens up playing time for the kids...rid themselves of guys that won't be apart of the future.
Los Angeles: Gain some depth...opens up more minutes for the Kaman-ZBo combo...Have Miami throw in a protected draft pick...doesn't hurt their plans for 2010.
What do you guys think?

It_Was_Typed,
Miami will not trade marion and Joel Anthony for Camby and Daniels. Anthony is valuable to Miami and is believe to have more room for improvement. Anthony is the only valuable back-up center for Miami right now. Yes, better than Magloire and obviously thats why he has more playing time. . . . . Miami will not take Daniels, aside that he's a redundant being Wade and Cook as our SG, Daniels contract is an issue. . . .
The trade is too good for the Wiz. No way Ethan, Daniels and Stevenson will net you Marion and Anthony.
