Apparently we have one of our scouts at the Sixers game tonight looking at Tony Wroten.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Why exactly should the Nuggets do that?

Chandler would be great but thanks to Doc giving away all those picks there's no way the Clips can get a guy like him.
The Nuggets just got two first rounders for Mozgov and certainly will want at least one for Chandler, given that they seem to start a rebuild/retool.

Clippers really need to scout a guy who's already in the league?

Guy's a great ballhandler that can get by any defender and has a lot of tools to be a good defender as well.
Though, his shot is suspect and he needs to take less long range jumpers.

I like going for Wroten.

you guys think we should enter the Jermaine O'neal sweepstakes and sell Hawes off?
could be worth it….could blow up in our face….and by blow up in our face I mean keep us with the same blah production at the back up C spot.

but I think Jermaine will defend better at that spot.

The word I'm hearing is, the Denver Nuggets are looking for a big to replace the production of Timofey Mozgov. Hawes can net them Wilson Chandler.

However, the one thing preventing the trade is Doc. For some reason, he likes him not just because he's a big who can shoot 3s. It's the Seattle connection between Hawes, Crawford, Wilcox and Ballmer. Tony Wroten also has ties to Seattle, so he will be an instant fit.

Now it looks as if Doc goes after players who've played for him before (especially if you've won a ring with him in 2008), players who defeated his Big 3 Celtics in the playoffs from 2007-2013, and players that have lived in or played in Seattle. It's all about those three things for Doc.

Id do Hawes for Chandler in a heartbeat. Hawes has been a waste of money.

I'd nut if we dealt Hawes. Should have split the MLE between Kaman and a 3. Fully content playing Udoh as the backup five.

Wonder if we can snag Sanders and convince him to keep playing for Hawes?

Alone in the Minority

Post#1147 » by Ranma » Fri Jan 9, 2015 8:20 am

Apparently, I'm in the minority, but I'd prefer not to trade Hawes unless it's part of a package for a star player. While I've also been disappointed with his play, I wouldn't classify him as a lost cause just yet. He's had to deal with injuries, which may have stunted his acclimatization in his first year with the Clips. He's a coveted player by other teams and he should retain that value during the life of his current contract unless he totally tanks for an extended period of time or suffers a career-threatening injury.

I agree. Trading Hawes will be similar to the Dudley fiasco. On paper Hawes adds a lot of value to our team so i'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he returns to form. Also apparently Hawes is off the table anyway.

Agree. Hawes has lots of value and has been a good player in the league for years. He is hurt and this is the Dudley effect all over again. Now, if we are packaging him for someone like Jeff Green, then its hard to argue.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

This is how the 76ers opened up a roster spot to take on, and then waive, Cunningham.

Andrew Nicholson?

Post#1152 » by Ranma » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:30 pm

I know the team has pursued him in the past and there was talk he would have been included in a package for Bledsoe. The tweet below is interesting. Could it be someone jumping the gun on a report? Maybe it was an error posting from an old story.

Sixers GM Building Mistrust Among Players and Owners

Post#1153 » by Ranma » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:35 pm

Bob Ford, Philadelphia Inquirer (1/9/15)
The reason for the leave of absence was not revealed, but league sources say Kirilenko's wife is going through a difficult pregnancy and the player wanted to stay home with her. Whether that is accurate or a means for Kirilenko to get away from a bad playing situation is moot. Either way, he didn't want to continue to play basketball for the Nets - although getting the rest of the $3.33 million is OK with him - and he certainly has no intention of suiting up for the 76ers, even though his smiling face is still on the roster page of the team's website.
...

That's fine, but sources around the league indicate that Hinkie is also gaining a reputation as someone with whom other teams are leery of doing business. There is always reason to question the motivation of sources, and Hinkie's analytical approach to the game does represent a challenge to the old-boys club's way of operating. But not living up to a handshake agreement, if true, would be a bad way to build relationships.

"General managers like to call each other and talk, but nobody wants to talk to Sam Hinkie. Nobody trusts this guy," one source said.

It's not a big deal in itself, this business with Kirilenko. Maybe he'll get released eventually. Maybe he'll retire. Maybe he'll go back to Russia and finish his career there. What he won't do is play ball with the 76ers, and, depending on whom you believe, it's fair to wonder if down the road anyone else will, either.

Sources say Hinkie reneged on agreement to release Kirilenko

Am I the only person who thinks we might be better off improving our bench and keeping matt barnes at SF instead of making our bench worse and giving up Barnes for a slight upgrade (when Barnes is playing well) at SF?

Looks like Austin Rivers being sent to Boston to complete that 3 team deal, likely to be waived...

Doc wouldn't sign Austin to a 10-day, would he? Cant imagine that being a good move for either party.

I could honestly see it happening if he gets waived. I mean why not? He's young, athletic, better then Cunningham.

Not waived. Traded. And the Clippers are reported to get him.

I just realized something. There's a bunch of guys coming off deals from China so why don't we target one/some of them? I'm sure they'll all be willing to get the min for 30 or so games. There's Andray Blatche(if we trade Hawes), Jordan Crawford(if we trade Jamal), Beasley(very much a risk) etc.

i hope we target blatche, which is kind of funny cause i used to hate on the guy as much as someone possibly could. he really proved he could grow up and contribute playing for the nets and i think he'd give us some much needed juice.
