Well, congratulations, because Doc River's blunders have led up to the unthinkable. By giving up on rookies too soon, Doc Rivers has inadvertently helped the Lakers.
That's a huge stretch. Bullock was crap in his 1 1/2 years here and he was crap in a half-year with the Suns, and he was crap in his first 2 years with the Pistons.
Plus we got Austin Rivers for Bullock, who was better in those years Bullock sucked.
The Pistons took a chance on Bullock with a minimum contract in 2017 and he finally started to get it at age 26. It was a good bet. But now he's a UFA this summer; the Lakers are renting him, and clearly he doesn't fit into Detroit's plans.*
It's sort of like Hassan Whiteside. The Kings drafted him way back, but it took until his later 20s for Whiteside to get it. You can't blame the Kings for giving up on him; he sucked.

*It's also questionable whether Bullock fits into the Lakers' plans. He may just be cover for if they pull off the AD trade and will need a body at SF. The Lakers gave up last year's 2nd rounder and it looks like a 2nd rounder next year. An undisclosed amount of trash.
