Everyone knows plan A. I just hope the Clippers have a plan B for a starter in mind if plan A does not work.

Is Cris Carter in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Strange that he's now a sports pundit, but I guess it tells you something about NFL salaries.

I'd rather keep our options open. There's nobody out there I'm panting for, except maybe Beal, who will have a big price tag. I'd rather do the Hinkie thing we did with Harkless and use the cap space to absorb other teams' bad contracts and get draft picks for our trouble. And if they're not New Clipper Culture people, we just buy them out.
Don't just do something, stand there!!

I dont want a bad plan B. I want a good plan B. A great move that people are like oh the Clippers are serious about 2019-20. Mind be wishful thinking but......

But after chasing him all year, looking so thirsty, sending people to his games, if Lakers come in and swoop KL from them, it could hurt the Clippers credibility in the eyes of potential FAs in the future.
Think of job applicants. Does the one who just relies on his or her resume get the job or someone who aggressively touts his or her case, badmouths the meet candidate get the job?

What I do not like is some people seem ready to throw in the towel on 2019-20 if KL does not come here. I get why. The starting lineup is not good at this point. I just rather find a real starter than quit. I think the guys on this team want to compete. I just think they need help in the starting 5. The bench should be fine.

If we could do that deal we would have already. So would 28 other teams. Beal is not just an all star. He is a 25 year old 26ppg guy. People overrate many draft picks. Every team has them. The non lottery picks are not hard to get at all. Even the late lottery picks can be had.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
He’s taking his time bro.
Life altering decision here. Apparently it’s not for the other FAs btw.
Other players in past free agencies have decided later in July as well.
With a year or so to focus on a major life decision, he needs these extra 6 days to do all of his homework on 3 franchises.
Be patient.

The Lakers are the Lakers, sui generis. Now they're full up until LeBron retires.
Part of the Lakers' appeal is being in LA, make no mistake. That leaves us. Somebody will take our money. In the meantime, our job is to not turn into a toxic waste dump like the Knicks or the Sacs, who couldn't get ANYBODY to take their money even when they offered a premium.

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
I really think the Clippers are still in this, since if Leonard was comfortable with the Lakers situation, he would already have said he was going there. Its obvious he is NOT, and if he is holding back, it must be that he really wants to be in LA, but wants to win, and is hoping Clippers can bring someone in, so he could go to them. Believe if Leonard would come if Love was on the Clippers, the deal will get done, and Leonard will be a Clipper....probably looking for someone else like Beal, which probably won't happen.

If the AD trade goes through tomorrow, do the Lakers lose the caps pace to sign Kawhi?

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
I'm just gonna guess here that the delay is good for the Clippers and that's what his heart really wants.
It's the hardest pick of the 3.
--Toronto is a known quantity and still a contender. But it's a foreign land.
--The Lakers are in LA, and joining them makes them the automatic favorite. But it's LeBron's team.
--The Clippers are still a star short of being a top contender. But the org is fantastic, it's in LA, there are GREAT guys like Pat and Lou, and Kawhi can be Kawhi here.
C'mon, Kawhi, shock the basketball world! The other two choices are soooo boring...

Re: Kawhi Leonard?
So apparently Kawhi was spotted at a gas station in San Diego, which means that the MLSE jet must have been flying him home after all.
