I just realized that the 30 for 30 they're going to make on this whole saga a decade from now is going to be amazing.

They never have any value but are always involved in trades.

Hmmm...

Yeah, except this time we traded them for a superstar instead of for Jeff Green, or to dump a horrible contract. Big difference between our current front office and GM Doc.

We had no cap room to trade for any big guns. We were all in on the CP-BG era. Let it go.

I have no doubt that we are in “win now” mode and that this current front office won’t use it as an excuse to do stupid trades like the ones you are alluding to.

Refreshing feeling tbh.

We're already seeing them come up with creative solutions to bolster the roster - from getting Harkless and a draft pick for free, to taking advantage of Zubac and McGruder's low cap holds. These are things that GM Doc never thought of.

Jeff Green played ok for us
you forget

it was Blake getting injured--twice--that blew that year

anyway Minnesota turned down Houston's offer of four
they're meh picks

The Houston Rockets are making a renewed bid to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler, including four future first-round draft picks in their most recent offer, league sources told ESPN.

if not for his hand being forced by PG, Presti would have laughed at this deal

I think you're right and I'm glad we have the FO we do now. And it was Doc who hired Lawrence Frank in the first place. We have like 6 guys now doing the job Doc was trying to do by himself under Sterling.

But the situation then was much different anyway--we were capped out with CP and BG--no flexibility. We could do the Harkless thing only because we had so much cap space. And FTR, Doc was still PoBO when we did the CP deal with Houston. Where we are now was very much already underway when the change was made.

We had no flexibility because of GM Doc. Forget cap space - his moves left us with zero valuable trade assets outside of Blake and CP3 themselves by the end of the Lob City era. He also gave away draft picks like candy and didn't take the draft or player development seriously when we had our picks. All those bad moves on the margins piled up until they became too much to overcome.

No, what we're seeing is that the problem was Chris Paul, and to a lesser extent Blake. The core was rotten.

I'm glad we have Doc's man Lawrence Frank at the helm, glad we have guys like Winger and Redden, and of course Jerry West and the best owner in sports in Steve Ballmer.

"I thought, 'What a great opportunity to turn around the most dysfunctional organization ever,'" Rivers says. "But within two weeks there, I knew it was an 'Oh, boy.' The organization didn't have anyone working for it. I noticed how many people were underpaid and what that does to you. Everyone in the organization was underpaid. That makes you not loyal and bitter. In some ways, the Sterling thing was the best thing that happened because it gave us an opportunity to catch up. But it takes a while to recover."

What Doc was forced to deal with in the Sterling era is apples and oranges with the situation today. And he put us on this course. Doc---and V Stiviano!!

BTW, while Kawhi met with the Lakers and Raptors at hotels, Kawhi met with the Clippers at Doc's house Monday night. On Tuesday, Kawhi was over at Paul George's house in Westlake Village. Doc could very well have been a key part of the winning formula. He's more than pulling his weight.

All is calm, all is bright.

CP3 was definitely a problem too, but that has nothing to do with why we had no flexibility left to improve the roster around him and Blake.
