I would MUCH rather have Stephen Jackson over the headcase that is Terrence Williams.

I'd rather get a guy that makes hardly $2 mil for a 2nd rounder then trading anything of worth for Jackson, his shot selection, antics and huge contract.

I agree, you're right, I thought Jax was an expiring.

He's a black hole on offense and sucking pretty big for a couple of years now.
He's stopping ball movement on offense and can't hit 40% of his shots.
While playing so badly and being 33 years of age, he still cried about wanting a new contract while his current one still has this and next season covered and him being 35 by then.
Those things combined don't make for a real good bench player and I wouldn't want to throw away a chance at some other free agents this summer just to have him on the team.
Captain Jack hasn't fit in in MIL this year, which is why he would be available, but played well for CHA last season. His PER put him as a top 15 SG last season. He would be part of our second unit where we need some guys (besides Mo) who are willing to and can score. So that fact his usage rate is 25+ is ok. Jackson's TS% is around 52% which is a little low but not horrible. This is your 8th or 9th guy.
The total net impact of his contract is LAC not having Foye's contract expire next season (about $4M more next season).
LAC needs some more length. There are going to be nights when Billups and Mo are simply too short at SG. There are going to be nights when Butler is out injured and we have no choice but to play a 3 guard line-up. For your mid-bench, you are looking for guys you fill specific needs for you and Jax can score, has length, and isn't really costing you any more money then what you are already spending.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
with billups now being out for the rest of this season, it maybe is the perfect time to consider a key trade.
Mo+Cook for Ray Allen.
still sign JR if we can to bolster the bench, and have a veteran with championship experience to replace another vet with championship experience. we won't have any drop off in talent, and in fact it could be an upgrade. boston would consider if they are serious about trading rondo away for something else. cook would be cut now or released after this season, but i can see this move as being a win-win for both teams.

Edited. Don't see Allen being shipped for Mo. I can understand that they would need a starting PG if Rondo got shipped but they rate Allen very highly and Mo =/= Allen in trade value.

I think we'll see something along that way till the deadline or we'll sign someone being cut after the deadline.
Though Delfino I'm not sure of, cause the Bucks will still be trying to make the playoffs.
Guys that come to mind, for that larger TPE and some 2nd rounders are.
Terrence Williams
Chase Budinger
Courtney Lee
Reggie Williams
Nick Young(wishfull thinking, but he'll be an UFA after the season)
Marco Belinelli
Damien Wilkins
Rasual Butler

Something simple. Eric Bledsoe and Randy Foye for O.J. Mayo.

If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Thing about Mayo is that he will be a RFA in the summer and will be looking to get $$$$. Rather hold on to the Bledsoe chip for now.

How would that even work. Bledsoe is on a rookie deal and I'm sure Jamal Crawford makes a lot more than that.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Don't see it happening. Flynn is a 3rd string PG who makes more than Bledsoe due to his draft position and the Clippers would have no interest in Stephen Jackson and his contract. It has been around 5 years since his last good season in GS.

buckaroo wrote:With Bledsoe back, I think the obvious trade is to package Foye and Gomes and trade them to a team who would like to have Foye's $4M+ off their books next year. With the drama Stephen Jackson is facing in MIL right now, a Foye and Gomes for Jackson trade wouldn't be the worst. Jackson has this season and next season at $9M+ which isn't great. He is old (33). And he is a bit of a nut case. But, he has good length 6'8" G/F, will come off the bench, is supposed to be a great locker room guy even if he is a headcase, and can score inside and out and plays solid defense.
PG - CP3/Bledsoe
SG - Billups/Mo
SF - Butler/Jackson
PF - Blake/Kenyon
C - DJ/Reggie
That roster gives you a lot of versatility to go big and play Butler and Jackson at SG and SF if you need to. Go really big and play Martin at SF for a few minutes. Go small with a 3 or even 4 guard line-up.
Clippers get: Jackson and Delfino
Bucks get: Foye, Gomes and Cook

^Bucks save about 11 million over the next two years and trade a 33 year old mal content. Clips gain size at the two and get a back up three.

There is no rational reason for the Clippers to add Stephen Jackson to the roster. He isn't close to the player who was on the GS playoff team with Baron Davis, the Clippers would come out ahead if they keep their current roster and amnesty Gomes in the offseason.
