Yeah, I'm not fond of Hickson either, I mean, I'd rather keep Jamal and sign Gooden or Evans to the min, or even Turiaf.

Let's send him across the hall for Hill and #27 or something

yeah i don't like hickson for reasons stated above, but no way i don't swap him with jamal if the chance arises. crawford simply cannot be on this team next year.

also, i don't see lakers executing their team option on jordan hill (9m or something lol) so there's a chance we can snag him on the cheap.

btw, anyone hearing anything about amir johnson? i pretty much haven't put him in any of my own lists cause i'd assume there's no way he takes a cheap deal with us, but i'd be curious what his thoughts are in playing in LA.

Nothing at all, doesn't seem like he would fall in the Clippers price range. He has struggled from injuries recently, which has been sad and limited his production, but I really like his game

Yup, one of the few players in the league more toxic defensively than Jamal. Rather play Udoh than him.

Maybe if we had the full MLE I could see a chance of Doc working the miracle and convincing them to take a paycut like he did Hawes, but with just the mini-MLE there's no way they give up that much money. If they don't stay in their current teams, a team like the Knicks, the Lakers, Mavs, Magic, Celtics, even the Spurs maybe, will give them an 8 figure salary for sure when they start striking out on their 1st option free agents.

unfortunately doc has been some what unlucky but then turns around and follows that up with stupid choices. he is way in over his head as a gm. a couple of more bone head mistakes and he will ruin this team.

Would love to pick up some cheap bash brother type guys like Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin this off season. If we get the balanced bench wing scoring and Austin improves its all we need.

I still think we need to trade small for big using Crawford as bait. We need a PF/C who can rebound and shoot and Crawford's salary allows us to make that move.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Who though? I really really believe that crawford has 0 value, even with his expiring.

Look at teams who need a SG, scoring or someone who can create. Toronto is a possibility if they lose Lou and don rebuild (Patrick Patterson), Pacers in a three way, Orlando (Nicholson), Grizzlies in a three way and possibly even the Wizards just to acquire Pierce.

Crawford has value, but more than likely he brings back someone a team wants to get rid of or has an expiring deal.

99% of us clip fans who've seen him day in and day out believe he has 0 to negative value.

but if you poke around on trade and transaction forums you'd be surprised how many people think he is worth not just something, but a fair amount.

i look at it this way: gm's and coaches are dumb humans, just like any of the rest of us. doc was exhibit A, considering his complete stupidity and blindness in playing crawford no matter how bad he was.

some GM out there is gonna say "oh, 15ppg off the bench? two 6th mans? i need me some scoring. here, take my money, take my assets!"

he'll have someone interested. just gotta hope there's a sucker big enough to give us lots of nice things.

Wizards might really be interested in such a deal- Crawford could at least provide some offensive spark off the bench for them and allow Porter to step into the starting role

I still want to know how the Clippers can get Alexis Ajinca, I know he fouls a lot and is weak, but the guy improved drastically since his first stint in the NBA and is skill wis actually a very good fit next to Blake, but would just be a good backup to have. I'd have no issues with a 33/15 split between DJ and Ajinca at C. He can shoot very well out to 18 feet, is an 80%+ FT shooter, can protect the rim, is actually quite mobile and can get off the floor fairly well for a guy his size, but the one thing people still don't respect is that the guy can score the ball.

A guy like Ajinca could expand what the bench can do. Give them a post-scoring option in addition to perimeter guys that can create.

can we get him for MMLE though? kept hearing about how he'd be able to command more. but doc has some special swindling powers when it comes to making guys take discounts, so who knows.

Yea, but there's only on MMLE, so how does the team get a SF and a PF?

Right now the team needs a SF, a backup PF, and a backup C. If it is possible to get a player that can backup both PF and C effectively, of course that is ideal, but I don't think it is. Someone like a Taj Gibson for example.

So Jamal is a trade option, there's the MMLE, but after that we're looking at a minimum contract.

Jamal in a trade to somehow bring back Pierce, MMLE on Ajinca, and a minimum PF could technically work, except who is this minimum PF? Then you could get a minimum SF like a Wesley Johnson just as a backup / injury safety net. That would give you something like:

Chris Paul / Austin Rivers
J.J. Redick / Lance Stephenson
Paul Pierce / Wesley Johnson
Blake Griffin / Minimum PF
DeAndre Jordan / Alexis Ajinca

yeah, i dunno. but honestly, PF is pretty much the last thing i upgrade, because even though davis isn't ideal, you can still work with him. i wasn't even thinking about getting a new backup PF lol

also, read in clipsnation that rumor is we're trying to go after wilson chandler, also. i just don't see how that is at all a possibility, though. mike malone isn't gonna want crawford/wilcox for chandler. i just don't see how we can make that work.

Works if Denver is trying to shed salary, but I don't think they are. If they get Crawford before he is guaranteed they can save money. Malone isn't the GM though, so it isn't up to him in the end ;)

yeah, i have a hard time seeing a team sign a fresh coach only for them to start stripping away his talent lol

i think the answer to PF might be in just signing both pierce and a min SF like wes johnson so the reserve one can just play small-ball 4. this lets us shift lance to the backup 3/point forward and allows us to actually start playing wilcox at the backup 2 guard, with rivers at the one. solves both that particular issue and the one where wilcox is finally afforded some playing time.

unless we trade wilcox, he NEEDS to start contributing for us to have a chance.

Rumored Targets

Post#180 » by Ranma » Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:00 am

Hopefully, Emeka Okafor and Al-Farouq Aminu are also considerations as target signings for the Clippers.

Arash Markazi, ESPN (6/17/15)
One of the options the Clippers are exploring, according to sources, is Paul Pierce, who could sign a mini-midlevel exception of $3.37 million for up to three years if he declines his $5.5 million player option with Washington. Players don’t normally turn down money but it’s essentially a $1 million difference this season for Pierce, 37, to return home and be reunited with Rivers, who was his coach in Boston for nine seasons, including the 2007-08 championship.

The Clippers are also exploring trade options for Jamal Crawford, according to sources, and one possibility is trading Crawford and C.J. Wilcox, the team’s 2014 first round pick, to the Denver Nuggets for Wilson Chandler. The Clippers inquired about Chandler last season but nothing materialized.
