What's your definition of all the way through? Complete this season? Next season? How much rope would you give Doc if you were the GM with no rings to show for it?

One more season and re-evaluate. My observation is just that putting in a new system with a new coach on the fly by Christmas seems crazy. And with constant injuries and then the 5-month hiatus just as the team was playing well, this Clippers team is NOT a well-oiled machine like the Spurs and Warriors became. It's not fair to judge it without giving it SOME chance to achieve some continuity.

I'd say this regardless of who the coach is. Play it out, at least one more season.

While that logic seems good it shouldn't apply to Doc. If he doesn't win it all this year then he goes. Coaches all over the league are fired every year and they've been dealt with a worse hand than Doc. Also this is a players' league. Kawhi and PG should be asked in total privacy how they feel about Doc. If the main stars are ok then I guess he gets another year.

Of course it should apply to Doc--unless Kawhi wanted him out, which I doubt. There is no indication he's lost the team and I think Game 5 rather proves it. If they'd have laid down it would be a different story. And after last night's big social justice speech, he's probably even more entrenched. How do you fire a guy after that? Ballmer eats that stuff up.

Don't know why he's not considered a mediocre coach at best. I think his speeches and giving a voice to certain causes have made him untouchable.

Only things that matters is what Kawhi wants. If he wants Doc, he stays. If he doesn't, he goes.

Who would you get though?

With a big payroll and the superstar talent, it would have to be another retread coach, not some promising assistant or young college coach, because he might not command enough respect.

Whoever it is would have to be a great politician, able to establish rapport right away with the stars. Especially if the players still like Doc.

Those 7 are the names we should hope to get when doc resigns or fired whenever that be.

I heard that this coach's teams won't lose discipline all so often and don't need mental check-ups every other 2 game. They take a lot of noname players and make them contributors in playoffs. Those coaches does something right that they are where they are.

I think you're conflating the criticism of doc as hating the team. If someone says hope Doc gets fired if we lose then that's not saying I hope the team loses so doc gets fired. No one wants that.
Questioning Trez's lack of heart, or Lou's boneheaded TOs is not rooting against the team. Questioning doc and his inability to coach is not rooting against the team. Guys are just on the edge here.
This team was put together by Frank and West to win a championship. Doc is the head coach. Guys are questioning his moves or lack thereof.
Not everyone is a cool and collected dude like you and the way people react is different than yours. Maybe they're more emotional than you? But to say guys are rooting for the team to fail so Doc gets fired is beyond the pale.
