I have no sympathy for Nick Young and I've been a fan of D'Angelo Russell's for a while, but yeah, this doesn't help his reputation of being an immature player. To be honest, I'd still be inclined to acquire Russell for the Clippers but this situation is a bit troubling.

I don't know the whole story, but I'm guessing D'Angelo was playing a practical joke on Swaggy P then forgot or didn't want to delete the video in question from his phone or whatever. The video probably was leaked by one of Russell's acquaintances who was going through his device. It's also possible that the leaker knew of the video's existence and is a friend of Iggy Azalea's. Who knows? Maybe Russell has a crush on Azalea himself.

He's literally un-trade-able after this. No owner, GM, coach, or team wants a snitch in their locker room. The entire NBA is a close knit circle who all talk and hang with each other. You can't just jump to a new team and all is forgiven. I think you can even say goodbye to the Lakers acquiring any quality free agents this off season because of this. That is a -beyond toxic environment right now

I don't know if he's untradeable, but it is a disturbing sign. I updated my original post just before your reply theorizing that someone else may have gone through his device to leak the video in question, but to your point, he is ultimately responsible for having it in his possession in the first place. Players get into altercations with other players and even coaches. A particular player may be unwelcomed in one clubhouse, but odds are, another team would be willing to give the kid a chance as long as he can play.

Charles Oakley punched Jeff McInnis supposedly over a girl. Matt Barnes went after Derek Fisher over his ex-wife. The 3 J's in Dallas (Jason Kidd, Jim Johnson, and Jamal Mashburn) disbanded over a girl (Toni Braxton?). Delonte West supposedly slept with LeBron's mother and LeBron might have reached out to him recently to offer help with his mental illness. Paul George cheated on Doc's daughter and Austin's sister. Shaq even stole Steve Nash's idea for a television show as teammates. Latrell Sprewell choked P.J. Carlesimo. Right now, we're dealing with the aftermath of Blake Griffin punching a member of the team's equipment staff who is well-liked. Griffin's situation doesn't involve another player but it has caused issues for the team.

Like I said, players screw over other players all the time, which can divide a clubhouse. In D'Angelo Russell's case, it looks like the whole team is against him, which says a lot about his actions. I agree with you about trust issues that have to be overcome with prospective new teammates, but the kid is talented. Another team will give him another chance and he'll likely learn from this to adjust his behavior in the future.

I'm not saying I excuse him for his transgression, but I don't really know what happened. Between the two, I just happen to be siding with Russell over Young.
