stehen A. on espn radio said the Clippers are quietly exploring trading Blake. Do you trade with the Celtics for picks and David Lee? Do you open it up and try to get Melo?

I feel your pain nick but what we really need is a tough big wing. I have just about given up on our quest to make a 3 out of the current roster.

Yeah of course, I think all of us want a two way SF before anything, but being realistic we can't get one with the assets we're willing to trade, not a playable one anyway. I don't think we can even get one on the level of Luc or Lance to play SF. To be honest, I don't even think we have a realistic chance of getting EJ.

So, with that in mind, like nick said, EJ would be a better choice to play small SF than anything we're rolling right now. And his injuries and lack of motivation in New Orleans, coupled with the fact that they might be about to tank and he's unlikely to re-sign there, are what make him somewhat close to a realistic possibility in the first place. Plus, EJ is short but he has a 6'9'' wingspan which is just about an inch shorter than Jamal and Lance.

At this point I'm just praying Doc and his minions are not ret*rded enough to trade Blake for 10 cents on the dollar this trade deadline, or the offseason (though I'm pretty sure whenever he's back on the court, his play will make all of this trade talk be quickly forgotten).

The Case For Trading Blake Griffin

Post#1988 » by Wammy Giveaway » Mon Feb 15, 2016 5:19 pm

Select excerpts from Sports Illustrated:

Andrew Sharp wrote:The Clippers would be crazy to trade five-time All-Star forward Blake Griffin. Seven years after the Clippers made him the No. 1 pick, Griffin has transformed them from a Jay Leno punch line to a serious marker on the NBA map. He helped lure point guard Chris Paul to L.A. in 2011, and he'll attract other stars if Paul ever leaves. You don't unload players who can turn your entire franchise around. And yet ... If there's one move every NBA fan should be rooting for as the Feb. 18 trade deadline approaches, it's for the Clippers to deal Griffin.

Each spring since has brought a playoff failure more horrific than the preceding one, and with the Warriors and the Spurs scorching through the West, the prospects for this postseason don't look much better. Paul is basically the hero in a Greek tragedy at this point. Starting center DeAndre Jordan nearly fled for Dallas as a free agent last off-season before his teammates emoji'ed him to come back. The offense still stalls at the end of close games, just as it has in the playoffs, and the Clippers are winless against the league's top four teams. We know how this story ends. Trade Griffin, and projecting the future becomes more fun.

Crazy? Sure. But what's the alternative for coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers and the Clippers? Doing the same thing and expecting different results? That's insane.

Celtics hold the 2016 Nets pick, unprotected. They also have rights to swap with Nets in 2017 (unprotected) and have the Nets 2018 pick (unprotected).

The Celtics also have the Dallas 2016 1st rounder, all their own picks a future Memphis 1st rounder, and a gazillion 2nd rounders (including the 2016 Philly pick).

Everything about that Nuggets deal is trash.
and I mean EVERYTHING.

This has to be one of Broussard's duck tales.
Nobody in their right mind who has a fiduciary duty to the Clippers would have thought up that trash.

If the Denver offer has legs, someone in the FO sure likes my trade ideas on this forum... Although I said I would want Chandler and their #1 instead of Faried.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Trade Deadline Frenzy: Deny and Misdirection

Post#1996 » by Ranma » Tue Feb 16, 2016 2:14 am

I'd fire Doc before I let him or his cronies put together a trade for Blake Griffin given his dismal track record for evaluating talent for fits to his own system.

I think you would have to get the Nets pick if you were trading Blake.

I know the Clippers haven't had the most difficult schedule during Griffin's absence....but it looks like the Clippers flow a lot better because the ball is in Paul's hands more.
And its not like the Clippers defense is suffering without Griffin.
I think if the Clippers improve their depth, Paul can continue to carry them.
That Denver deal would certainly solve the depth problem, and it would make the Clippers one of the best perimeter shooting teams in the NBA.
I think Paul is great at getting the most out of role-players, as he proved earlier in his career (when he almost won MVP).
Griffin however perhaps has hampered Paul's ability to orchestrate this team, because Griffin takes a chunk out of the shot clock with his posting-up.
I think these Denver guys could really spread the floor and allow Paul room to penetrate and be creative, and DJordan has the paint all to himself.
