83-83 after 3 and nobody's playing particularly well except Shai, who has 5 fouls

maybe we can steal this one

Gallo 3-10
Lou 4-11

just need one to start hitting

welp, called that one
final totals:

Gallo 3-14
Lou 5-18

crucial misses in the crunch esp Gallo

and we still made close
BTW, Shamet was a team-best plus+11
he's been that way even when not hitting

nice to see Shai come out of his sleepwalk
13 points on 6-8 but limited to 19 minutes because 5 fouls

next up: the Sacs

I'm reminded game by game why Ty bugs the hell out of me. Dude has tunnel vision in the worst way. He got blocked like 3 times in a row just putting his head down and trying to score not even ACTING like he's gonna pass. He's super predictable on offense

Poor shooting night for Gallo from 3. I do not think his 3 ball has been the same since he has had a stiff back. That is understandable. I wish Doc would take him off the 3 point line until he is back 100%. Let him play more inside the key. He is shooting fine closer to the hoop and is near automatic at the foul line. Gallo should also recognize this and go more to his back to the basket game. Milk that free throw line even more.

Trezz rebounding does not seem the same as earlier in the season but he has still been a great scorer (most nights).

I'm still hoping for the playoffs but I hate this starting lineup. Its asking too much from these guys. You have two starters that might only get a 2nd round pick in a trade. Two starters that are rookies having major ups and downs and one vet starter who is playing through back stiffness.

I'd look for help wherever I could get it whether that means moving Lou or Trezz up from the reserves or signing somebody from somewhere. Yeah I know that a quality starter is probably not sitting around waiting for a call. Anyone former stars still in good shape? Maybe they should give Melo a shot? Yes I'm that desperate.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

The starters got out to a double-digit lead last night. The problem was Lou and Gallo in the 4thQ.

You nailed the Gallo problem, though. He missed every shot from the field and the only points he scored in the 4th were from the line.

I still think there's some fatigue. The road trip really didn't end when we had only one game at home before traveling again. The young starters jumped out to a double-digit lead and it was the [older] bench that had dead legs. The Jazz had 3 days rest.

Yeah Doc should've switched and gave the starting five another look in the 4th cause they as a whole had the most success the entire night.. but its the Lou Show to close out every game no matter who does what in the game. Gallo was bad and Zubac should've been in the game in the 4th to body up Gobert

There's a case to be made that Zubac should have been in instead of Trezz. But only because we lost.

Yes, in the last 2 minutes our interior defense turned to ****, but that happens in every game because you don't want to foul and give up a 3-point play.

Zubac has not nearly earned the level of respect that he plays while Trezz sits. If I'm a Clipper player, I'm thinking Doc is overcoaching. Trezz got us here.

We were within 4 when Lou missed a 3-pointer with about 10 seconds left. He makes it, we have the game down to a coin flip.

BTW, the Jazz pretty much blew out the Nugs tonight IN DENVER. This is why Doc--and really nobody--was upset at the loss. We played hard and for the most part we played smart. This league is pretty good.

Like I said beginning of the 4th, and I don't mind saying so, ;-)

The unshakable Clippers were not discouraged by a 111-105 loss to an equally unflinching Utah Jazz team Wednesday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena before 18,306 yelling fans.

The Clippers are made up of a defiant bunch determined to participate in the Western Conference playoffs and one tough loss was not going to dishearten this group.

    ...

Two of the Clippers’ top offensive threats, Danilo Gallinari and Lou Williams, struggled with their offense, shooting a combined eight for 32 from the field and one for nine from three-point range.

“Me and Lou make shots, we win the game,” Gallinari said, “bottom line.”

Onward to the Sacs!

I agree that Trez has earned the right to close out games but at the same time there's a few certain players that pose a serious height problem for a 6'8" center like Trez.. Gobert being one of them. I'd put Zubac in with Trez, spacing be damned, and roll with the outcome in a game like that. We have the deep bench now.. why not find the right combo in a game against a tall team like Utah.

To my memory, Trezz has never successfully played with another big man. He's a center only, and can function only in the low post. Can't have 2 guys down there. Zubac is low-post only too.

Doc tried him with DJ a number of times, and with Gortat a few. No dice. I suppose he can give it another look in training camp with Zubac, but now isn't the time.
