Exactly.. Preseason or not losses to the Lakers without Bron & AD is bad optics especially here in LA. You don't want to do sh*t like this no matter what. Three straight losses to Denver in the bubble and now two straight losses to the rival and champion Lakers :banghead: Hell I don't even know what a win looks and feels like with this team. I knew we were going to lose three minutes into the game. And this is the second game in a row this THT guy lit us up and dominiated. WTF is up with that? And why is Pat Paterson playing in a game like this when the minutes should go to Kabengele and Oturu? I'd rather sit PG & Kawhi if we're not going to play with any type of energy than to go though the narrative of the "Lakers won without Bron & AD" that's going to plaster the morning news shows and Twitter all night long. The only positive is that this happened on a NFL Sunday and hopefully gets somewhat buried in the headlines. If this franchise could ever 'read the room' for once we could make some type of progress.

Exhibit A of why I wasn't on board with the Lue hire. Clearly he has the same irrational grudge against playing Zu that Doc had. I haven't seen anything on the court so far that gives me any faith in this guy.

I definitely get what you're saying and I'm on the same page with you but the thing is- we don't even know for sure that an outsider as coach for the Clippers would play Zu over a known commodity. I do believe Zu will get a nice amount of minutes under Lue as opposed to Doc but I wouldn't even know or there's no proof that even a Popovich, Kerr, Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, etc would play Zu more over the next guy.. That's the biggest mystery in all of this

Good point. Sadly, it feels like the fanbase is always the only people who even notice or care about "the room." :noway:

I'm not very happy about the performances in the first 2 games either, but let's not over-react

The Clippers dominated the season series with the Lakers over the past 5-6 years or so and won the first 2 last season and what did it get them? Beating the Lakers in the regular season much less the pre-season isn't the priority.

Now, if they are still playing like this on opening night and beyond, that's an issue- not because it's against the Lakers, but because their team chemistry should be coming together in the next few weeks if they are going to be successful.

It’s hard to find the balance between not overreacting and not making excuses.

There are things that need to be cleaned up for sure. A lot of that, IMO, will be taken care of when main guys are playing their normal minutes and a rotation is locked in.

Morris is going to be more dangerous in the starting lineup than Batum for example.

I’m not sure what to think about Zu’s minutes. I don’t want to hit the panic button yet. Lou talking about building chemistry with him gives me hope his minutes will increase and they’ll create something along the lines of what he had with Trezz.

The turnovers are an eyesore. With all the ball movement and players relocating after passes that’s to be expected. Throw in some new guys and it’ll take time to understand where everyone likes to be. Only two games but I don’t see anything that screams they can’t clean those up.

Sad, no fight, nothing. Ballmer needs to step in... On a side note, go vote in my poll, last chance today (expires tomorrow):

I find it hard to gauge a game where 17 players saw the floor, that's one problem here. Ty Lue is definitely playing this like pre-season in terms of playing a lot of guys and letting things be sloppy.

One more pre-season game left, let's see how that goes.

one funny thing is that this happens every preseason, then the real season starts, the team plays normally and all the people crying look like complete dorks

Yea, I just can't worry about pre-season that way. We're not going to look back during the season and say "it was the pre-season performance that caused this". I know some people are concerned about Lakers fans trolling, but the type of Laker fans who will be trolling because of pre-season wins are likely bandwagon or childish Laker fans.

Most of the normal non-childish Laker fans are not dumb enough to think this means anything or is even worth mentioning or discussing.

Only watched for 5 minutes since it is preseason and had some other things to do. From the short amount I watched, it looked like they were trying to play with more ball movement. Of course since I watched only a small amount it could have been just been those initial plays. For those that watched the whole game does it seem like there is more movement overall?

Yes there is more ball movement. There were a great number of assists from this in the first half.
I'm just bothered about the defense.

The ball movement probably threw some of the players off. Going from a heavy iso-centric offense, they're probably used to just standing and watching. It'll be a hard habit to break, hopefully they get to used to it sooner than later. Defense and turnovers were bad though. But again, I'm guessing it's because of the new coaching staff/players.

It's the preseason, but as soon as the season starts, the team really needs to get going. Everyone saw what happened last year and how they used the "chemistry" angle all the way up until the post season. If they want a real shot at winning it all, building chemistry should be one of the biggest priorities.

Exactly.. Preseason or not losses to the Lakers without Bron & AD is bad optics especially here in LA. You don't want to do sh*t like this no matter what. Three straight losses to Denver in the bubble and now two straight losses to the rival and champion Lakers :banghead: Hell I don't even know what a win looks and feels like with this team. outside of the top two on each team the lakers have much better depth and supporting cast. its gona be up to George and Kawhi to level up their play for Clippers to comeout of the west.

And pride. And urgency. They have played with neither so far. When they reached down into their pants for them last year, they weren't there.

“It’s not a championship or bust year for us. It’s about getting better. It starts every day just focusing on us, not the outside noise. It’s about being prepared every day, it’s about being focused during practice and executing during games. Just getting better every day, and hopefully by the playoffs, we’re playing our best ball.”

    ...

True, but how long do these Clippers have? George’s extension locks him in through at least the 2023-2024 season, but Leonard —the larger of the two pillars — can opt out at the end of this season. The two-time Finals MVP already forced his way out of San Antonio, leaving a $221-million supermax deal behind, then said goodbye to the championship confetti and $190-million max deal in Toronto a year later. Predicting Leonard’s next move is tricky to say the least. If money or a chance to repeat isn’t enough to keep him, what will?

That is out of Lue’s control. He can only promise a team that he firmly believes is better positioned to win a title than the team he actually led to a championship.

Oh. :o

Maybe but they were playing Kuz, KCP, Trezz, etc. down to the end while we had our fringe-tryout players on the floor. Horton-Tucker was ballin' though.. not to take anything away from him.
