They haven't gotten a draft pick right in ages. Isaac has promise but he keeps getting struck by really bad injuries

It's cool. Ty's trying to work him into the second unit but Reggie's really here as league-minimum insurance for Pat Bev getting injured which is often. [And for Lou too.] And he's really come through on Job One.

He gets in trouble when he tries to do too much. But he's not even a role player--he's a substitute role player, which is TWO steps back. That's really tough to accept for a guy who's still only 30 and has STARTED over 350 NBA games. And it looks like he has.

Props to Reggie and shout out to Playloc for stand by your man. :D

I was gonna mention this too. Bamba's got Embiid's body and he sounds like a college professor. They just said on TV that he showed up at his predraft interview with a briefcase, a resume, and a highlight reel in case they didn't have one. He went at #6.

I thought sure Bamba was can't-miss too--world-class brains and body? What could go wrong?

Just goes to show you--as Al McGuire said, you can be TOO intelligent to be an athlete. You're too aware of what can go wrong. The dumber guy just sees the hoop and makes the shot. The brain just gets in the way, lol.

as a newly-signed free agent not eligible to be traded until February 6

maybe to one of those teams that always seems to have just a few too many white guys if you know what I mean

He may still bounce back with the right situation. Magic drafting him while having a loaded front court and drafting even more forwards never made sense. Even with injuries there is little effort to develop him with Vice and AG still around

Zu was great as the placeholder starter with KL and PG last year. But he's really struggling with the 2nd unit. Sort of like a musician who can follow the band but can't lead it. The better the band, the better he looks.

But in a 26-point win tonight, his plus/minus was ZERO. Same with Mann. [Lou was plus+7 and Senior was +6.] I wish Zu could play with the starters to continue his development but Serge came here to play with Kawhi, not with Lou and Senior. Plus the first unit is better with Serge so that's that.

Kennard is ass so the second unit is just going to have to learn to play around Lou's strengths and weaknesses. Zu-and-Lou have their moments. :-) Instead of one of those fumbled hand-offs in the paint, Lou put a bounce-pass in front of Zu tonight and led him to the hoop and a dunk. Sweet.

Before the COVID hit last year, Reggie was at the 1 and Lou was doing his natural thing, a 6'1" mini-Iverson at the 2. Lou is not a PG. It was working bigtime.

The real problem this year is that that puts Kennard at the 3. I hate comparing white players with white players but JJ was also an unathletic 6'4" who was garbage on the second unit and can't play PG or SF. Like Redick, Kennard is a spot-up 2 with zero D and THAT's IT. Minimal assists, rebounds, steals. None of the "little things."

Clips are paying Kennard all this damn money and have no place they can hide him and get some minutes out of him. Stuck him out there with the first unit tonight and he didn't hurt, but didn't help either. You need a lot more for your money than this.

Kennard's better than Shamet was last year anyway. Talk about a basket case, poor fellow. :( But Ty's challenge is to extract 20 mpg from Kennard somehow. [And another 25 from Senior, but that's a different story.]
