Like what I'm seeing from Boston early. Looks better with the spacing around him. Hit a nice corner three off the kick out, good shake on that crossover, really nice eurostep that got blocked, trying on defense helping and recovering, stunting, rotating back into the play onto the weak side, boxing out when the shot goes up.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Of the four I recall, T-Mann was a hit and Fi, Sindarius and Jawun Evans were misses. It does appear we didn't give Justise the whole MLE [thank G-d; I am skeptical] and some of the money is coming from there.

Scrubb can get you points, which is nice, but coming from JuCo the NBA-level of the rest of his game is unknowable and even unguessable. There IS video on Preston, so obviously they think he can play some NBA-level point guard.

That said, I'm with you in WTFville. Besides SGA--who was kind of a slam dunk--and T-Mann, whose mom was an NCAA coach and who would do well to have Austin Rivers' career, Ballmer's FO has been MIA.

They need to hit something soon.

Yeah I just didn't understand the new draftees getting guaranteed deals right off the bat like they did. I understood Keon since he's the first round pick. Damn shame if Scubb is the one that has to get the two way deal out of the bunch

he's showing some cool things and i am pleasantly surprised. like, he looks like he will just give off natural impact minutes and that's something i wouldn't expect out of a really late pick.

That’s a tough loss but we saw a lot of what the young guys can bring. Preston and his passing, Johnson with his defense and slashing, and Boston with his all around shooting. Oturu started off sluggish but picked it up late and you can tell he still has a long way to go.

Coffey just has a bad game all around sagging off defenders and poor shooters. All the rookies will need weight and shooting camp. Scrubb was fantastic on both ends

You hate to overreact to one game.

But … Coffey wet the bed. Just awful

Oturu wasn’t much better but had some blocks, put backs, and a few hustle plays as well.

Love Scrubb’s energy and mixing up his offense. He looked pissed he didn’t get the last shot of the game and Mann was talking with him.

Johnson and Preston win the most shots that were half way down and out award. Johnson with energy and awareness. He has the tools and just needs to hone them. Preston needs to be aggressive. He looks more concerned with making the right pass/play. Who knows maybe that’s what they want him to work on.

I really like Boston. He showed a little of everything. It’s going to be fun to watch these young guys grow together.

Bonus was seeing Leonard. What an unexpected surprise.

I was impressed with Hicks too but enough to cut someone like Oturu?

Nice to see Jay Scrubb put on some muscle mass, looks like he belongs out there. Trying to keep my expectations reasonable, but there's just something about him that feels right. Grabbing boards on both ends, decent on defense, plenty of confidence, there's a lot to like about the kid. And don't even get me started on those eyes...

Hope to see Preston get some real minutes with the main roster. He can move the ball just fine and has no problems finding people, but I want to see how he does on defense against real players.

Keon & BJ are definitely works in progress, but you can see the flashes.

The writing was on the wall for Coffey when we started handing out guaranteed deals for all our rookies.

Oturu showed some signs of life in the second half, but I'd be shocked if he isn't gone too. Set some screens, dude! His only advantage right now is our lack of big depth, but I'd rather have Boogie over him.

I'm pretty certain that either Bev or Rondo (probably both, if we get another PG) are going to be traded, although I wouldn't mind having them around as mentors for the young players.

Luke being there was interesting. I'm not sure our FO is ready to move on from him yet, unless a really good deal is available.

P.S. Kerwin Roach hit a couple of shots, but is already 24 and has been bouncing around between Europe and the G-League, so I'm not sure if there's any potential there.

I know we were all disappointed in Kennard last season, but he came around somewhat in the playoffs. He is such a great shooter that you don't just want to give him away. Perhaps he will contribute even more next season with Kawhi out and increased confidence.

Liked seeing the Clippers rookies coming back after being down big. Nwora for the Bucks didn't need to be out there.

With our current roster and contracts Coffey may be the odd man out. But I think he's shown in his actual NBA minutes that he belongs in the league. He had better shooting percentages last year which helps a lot (not a large sample size though.)

Love Scrubb’s energy and mixing up his offense. He looked pissed he didn’t get the last shot of the game and Mann was talking with him.

I didn't get to watch the game, but sounds like reasonably good debuts for the rookies. I think Preston's standout skill is going to be his passing and overall floor awareness, so I think this is the best way for him to start. In general I think his shooting will be fine, but good passing, handles, and defense are what we really want to see from him at the NBA level to start (that and knock down open jumpers/3's at a decent clip.)

I like that we got a couple of great athletes in Johnson and Boston, even if it will take a little time for them to develop. You never know, occasionally one of these guys still has that athletic edge in the NBA and can contribute immediately even with raw skill sets (Darius Miles comes to mind.)

I think he got better by the end of the season, and definitely was better in the playoffs. I mean if he can step up (relatively speaking) while in the playoffs, you'd think it would be easy to carry that over into the next regular season.

His guaranteed contract is actually right around the full MLE for 3 years, plus incentives and 4th year team option. That's more or less fine IMO, compared to the 4 year/$64 first reported. Here are the details on the (yearly) incentives:

$620,454 for 66 games played or 1772 minutes played (for an 82-game season, pro-rated if the team has less than 82 games scheduled; remember that these bonuses do not apply to this season’s shortened schedule)
$477,273 for playing in the first round of the playoffs

$143,182 for making the Western Conference Finals
$143,182 for making the NBA Finals
$190,909 for winning an NBA Championship
$334,091 for maintaining a defensive rating under 105

https://213hoops.com/luke-kennards-contract-details-clippers-extension/

The first two seem very likely, the other ones gradually less so. I'll contribute to a Kickstarter if it will help Luke achieve the defensive rating incentive.
