Woah! Shame to see Keon get traded already, but at least we don't have to watch Bledsoe anymore. Definitely agree that a point guard has to be coming now.

Nice trade, this will be even more valuable when the stars return.

Powell gives the team a guard who can create shots for himself and put points on the board efficiently. Covington is a solid role player.

Seeing how Reggie and Norm play together will be fun

You are going to love NP; solid two way guy on a great contract.

RoCo has lost a step but can still help a playoff team.

As a POR fan I am less than excited about Winslow and Bledsoe but curious about Keon Johnson.

What can you tell me about the newest Blazer?

Bledsoe will be the perfect tank commander for the Blazers this season. He is really bad at this stage of his career.

Powell was part of the 2018-19 Toronto Raptors team that won the NBA title. He reunites with Ibaka and Leonard.

Clippers are loaded at the wings. Why? To make up for a lack of them during the Lob City era:

For the moment, this trade adds another $19mil to Ballmer's lux tax bill...

Great trade.

I think people forget that Robert Covington was 1st Team All NBA defender in 2017-2018 and Philly had to give him up to get Butler.

Covington has started 89% of the games in his career. He will take over the starting role here and allow Batum to come off the bench.

Powell will become another starter for us. Clips are putting the pieces in place to match up with Phoenix again. I highly doubt Kawhi sits out for the year. Covington and Batum will take workload off of Kawhi.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Clips sell high on Morris right now. Plus, the Clips have made a pre-emptive strike for 2 guys that the Jazz could have used to replace Ingles.

If we could snag Marcus Smart, we would be set.

If we plan on bringing Covington back, I could see this for sure. Marcus was a major offensive generator for us this year, but getting Powell relieves a lot of that pressure and enables a Morris trade.

Great move for us. I like it a lot. We have an excellent 2-3-4 in PG, Norm and Kawhi for the next 3 years. Very smart move by our FO.
Questions:
Can we resign Covington without any limitations?
Does Batum or Morris become expandable ?
I dont agree that we need to trade for another point guard. We should look at the buyout market.

You guys just committed the heist of the century. Joe cronin needs to be fired and it’s only been a month, clips really pulled a fast one on a man who has clearly proven he’s the most incompetent gm in the nba in short order

I not sure I clearly see Covington staying on the roster... will be packaged in a subsequent trade or salary-dumped on OKC to reduce the $100mil+ lux tax bill I believe we're presently facing... am not a capologist but believe simply trading his expiring to OKC for nothing would save $50 mil+ in taxes or something like that... $10mil+ more than a similar dump of Ibaka would produce... I think?

If he wants to tank, giving Bledsoe lots of minutes and running the offense through him should do the trick. He and Chauncey were teammates back in the Lob City days, so maybe Chauncey will have some favoritism for him. :D

In all seriousness, I think it's too early to judge the trade from Portland's perspective. If Keon pans out and you get a good prospect with your lottery pick this summer, it won't be the total catastrophe it looks like on paper right now, although I'm sure they still could have gotten better value elsewhere. I'm guessing Cronin was probably told by ownership to get under the luxury tax right now by any means necessary instead of holding out for the best deal. Weren't there rumors of the Blazers being sold? That might be factoring into the front office's moves too.

Wow, such a lopsided deal in favor of the Clips. Powell is just a solid player all around, and he and Kawhi's families know each other. RoCo is a guy who was a beast in fantasy leagues awhile ago, and is still a pretty good player. And to only have to give up the ever-inconsistent Bledsoe, Winslow, Keon, and a 2nd round pick? Wow....

Hard to see Keon go so soon, but they have to give up some value, and I think Boston was probably a better fit with the team.

I'm excited to see what moves are next... One solid point guard and I think the roster is set. There's a lot of talent at the 4 spot, I wonder if Morris or Ibaka will be moved.

Covington, Morris, Ibaka, Batum...we only need two of these guys so let's see what the best deals out there are- who knows we might be able to make another trade that really works for us, like this one does.

(obviously we want to keep Batum though.)

It hurts to see Keon go. I was (am) higher on him than BBJ.
