My optimism comes from the fact that we have Kawhi and he's been playing at a very high level and seems ready for the playoffs. I'm hoping that the role players start balling and put behind them this losing streak and start a new one.
I think we’re going to get a game where we’re at least equal to the sum of our parts, which is enough to win tonight. To get anywhere in the playoffs we’ll need to be more, really not sure about that one.
We have played better than the losing streak indicates, OTOH theres been times earlier in the year where winning streaks have involved some luck and bad teams. I think things are gonna revert back to the mean for now.
The case can be made that the unfamiliarity of constantly shifting lineups made it impossible to develop the synergy that makes a team more than the sum of its parts. We can hope for the best but I'm still skeptical. The hub of the wheel is Kawhi, and he's just not the hub type.
He was the third-leading playoff scorer [14 ppg] on that Spurs team and happened to win the Finals MVP. He WAS indeed amazing on the Raptors [30 ppg] but that WAS Kyle Lowry's team, not his. And he hasn't been 30 ppg dominant this year. He's cruising along at 23/6/4. Nice, but not dominant.
Unless Kawhi goes Kobe sometime soon, PG's got to get something going with his pal Russ. Trying to put two turkeys together to make an eagle.
- The Los Angeles Clippers are going through a rough patch right now, but Paul George isn't panicking over that.
The veteran swingman is well aware that they need to improve some things, but that doesn't mean the Clippers won't be difficult rivals in the NBA playoffs.
“You see the big picture of what we can be and what we will be,” George said, per Los Angeles Times’ Andrew Greif. “I still believe we’re gonna be a tough team to beat in seven games. And these tough losses can be lessons learned, just how to close out, we haven’t done it yet; I’m sure we’ll get to it. And when we do, we’ll be comfortable and confident in these moments.”
