That's what Bogi is for. Career wise he attempts 8.2 3PA/36, it's at 9.1 3PA/36 since 19-20, so there will be a lot of three's put up by him per minute he's on the court. He's definitely not going to be passing any up.

Perfect compliment to an injury prone roster like ours. He might be the only player in the league who has sat more games than Kawhi in the last 5 years.

Out from under the huge expectations that come with a huge contract, Ben can just be Ben. Rebounds, D, tons of assists. Get him off the court in crunchtime unless we have a lead. [He chokes on FTs too.]

Just get out there and be tall.

Age, injuries, playing 4-on-5 whenever Simmons is on the court...

Getting under both aprons was a good idea, as it turns out. Sometimes it's like they even know what they're doing.

I get that, but we gotta see if he's going to pan out as well. He had a ton of DNP's in ATL and he needs a couple of games off for "conditioning". I'm hoping for the best but there's a lot of "what ifs" as of right now.

Definitely like Simmons for this team.. is he the ideal hybrid forward like Jalen Smith or Chris Boucher? No, since he doesn't really space the floor and is an inconsistent finisher. He does still have scoring moments with post ups, floaters, hooks in the paint, though.

Ben I expect will be like a hybrid forward version of Russ' for this team, just without the soul and aggression scoring the ball.

But like said, his still elite playmaking, above average rebounding, length and agility defensively, and creative moments will be effective and present that is either lacking or not there on the team.

He will have fun on this team, and feel good being in LA.. and will help him get back in an even better light than maybe before in the most recent time.

LAC also definitely did this to keep a buzz for the fans around the team, and a best effort in the first year of the new arena.. Ben is still a name in the league, and can be a highlight still on the court.

Also things for the org. to point back to if they end up flaming out in the play-in, or just a bad Round 1 series. "Well, we did try to get better and keep the team fun to watch"..

Decent move, I like it! And will definitely add a sense of interest overall for most (just not folks like MTV and SAS ;-) ).

I'm thinking Simmons might play a lot of backup C, gives you a more switchable guy, and he will also push the ball every time he gets a rebound and can pass.

He will help in a few ways and it relates directly to Harden. He can help defensively with Harden on the floor by cutting off the driving lane. Also will help by bringing ball down and setting up plays with picks that free up Harden. Harden is a way better playmaker when operating closer to the paint. He’s also going to help in the transition fast breaks. Basically takes a load off the beard and helps connect the plays without being a defensive liability.

I remember this game, and is why he's still in the league.. maybe not routinely, but he's capable of these kind of games, and I expect a handful of impactful games like that. Scoring, rebounding, passing, defense, and confident.

The play at 1m29s though.. I mean it was fine because it was open corner three to DFS, but he still had a clear lay up : ).. must of just been overly instinctive based off what he saw since his back was to he basket.

Fun stuff to think about, though.. and how much he may be able to help the team on both ends.

I don't believe he has the mobility to guard 1's and 2's anymore, but 3-5

im cool with that. Playing the 5 on defense and not being able to shoot is ok

We gave up on Mann for passing up too many shots just to bring in a proven scrub who refuses to even take easy layups and dunks. Worst front office in the league.

Disagree. Having Simmons on a minimum deal is worth a shot. Having Mann warm the bench because Lue wont play him doesnt help us. Lue is desperate to run small ball 5 whether we like it or not. Simmons will be about as good as you can get at it. If he misses some games its ok cause its just a flyer on a buyout guy. A completely different situation than Mann making 20 million.

Every team that doesn't have a great C (or a really mobile one) needs to have the ability to go small at the 5 for matchup purposes, that's part of the reality of the modern NBA.

also- at 6'10", Simmons really isn't that small for a small ball center

Drew Eubanks just got an ankle injury from today's game. Ben at Center about to be in display as soon as next game.

Guys, Simmons isn’t a 5 and never has been

Just let him roam

Have a look at the Nets stats this season

Simmons is SLOWLY getting back to fitness and they have a real coach

We had to stop playing him because we were too competitive when he took the floor with real NBA players

My prediction is that the Clippers make at least the 2nd round

Looks like Ben is still good at one thing we need the most. Ball handling and distributing. If he can give us some real meaningful minutes I'll count that as a win.

The key for Ben to pop off is whether you guys have shooters and players who know how to cut. As long as you surround him with the right line up (it doesn't have to be perfect like people expect everything to be 5 and out) He will endorse winning plays. Just don't take it too personally when he randomly decides not to take an easy shot since if you put him in the right position he makes more correct decisions than errors.
