One person with knowledge of the conversation said Howard came away feeling as if he wouldn't be the Lakers' top option, since it remains Bryant's team.

Sounds like a selfish thing to feel if it is true... "He wouldn't be the top option"? He's the top option in the magic now and he's not happy, what the eff' does this guy want? wants to bake the cake and eat it too it looks like.

As long as they aren't playing us  They will have Harden and Ibaka extensions to deal with this summer. Otherwise they'll become restricted free-agents next year. It's going to be very expensive to keep them all together. So who do they choose to keep if they don't want to pay luxury tax?

When Dallas beats their ass tonight I want to see what the General Board has to say. Of course none of this means anything, it's early in the season, but the GB talks so much crap.

The GB is full of Image

Many of them regurgitate what they hear from other haters and their reasoning often makes little sense. Don't take anything that is said there too personal.

no idea but it's pissing me off cuz i need him for my fantasy team!!!!!!

Lin, 6-3, 200-pounds, posted a triple-double in his lone game with Erie, recording 28 points, 12 assists, 11 rebounds and two steals over 44 minutes in the Jan. 20 win at Maine. For the Knicks, he has recorded nine points, recorded two assists and two rebounds over 16 minutes in five games.

Asian fan here, I like how knicks call him back after posting a triple double lol... maybe they should actually give him some playing time instead of garbage time, i thought he was pretty good in stanford, but def not a good fit in GSW with a backcourt tandem like they had. hopefully he gets more time!

Gordon waiting on Stern to give him extension

New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon said he is waiting to learn whether NBA commissioner David Stern will grant him a contract extension before Wednesday’s deadline.

Gordon’s agent, Rob Pelinka, has engaged in recent contract talks with the Hornets’ front office, but hasn’t received an official offer. Gordon told Yahoo! Sports on Monday night he was informed by Hornets general manager Dell Demps that Stern must decide whether to extend an offer. The NBA owns the Hornets. Gordon wants to re-sign with New Orleans, but is uncertain if or when Stern will reach out to him or Pelinka.

Gordon has played in only two games for the Hornets because of a bruised right knee. He averaged 21 points in the two games. Gordon said he was evaluated by a team-appointed doctor in New York on Monday, and was told his right knee had no structural damage. The doctor, Gordon said, recommended he return to basketball activities in three weeks.

“The doctor said my knee will be 100 percent sound with rest,” Gordon said.

Gordon, 23, hasn’t been in New Orleans long, but is enthusiastic about the opportunity to play under Demps and coach Monty Williams.

“I just hope a deal gets done before the deadline,” Gordon said. “The ball is in [the NBA’s] court.”

Flip Saunders fired by the Wizards today. I don't think that team is as bad as their record indicates. They are in experienced, need more veterans, and need to play harder. That being said I'm sure they'll end up with a great pick this summer.

Randy Wittman was given the interim role. I was hoping that Sammy would get the chance to prove himself as head coach. There would be very little for the Wizards to lose by giving a new blood coach a chance for the rest of the season.

They need to pick a few players that they want to build around and relieve themselves of the rest. Wall is a talented player with the potential to be a very good player in this league, but he needs to be nurtured in the right environment. We have passed up on some players with potential (e.g. Beasley) for the sake of adding hardworking players with character and maturity. It took awhile and was a little frustrating at times, but it has paid off.

Washington needs to do something similar and get rid of the knuckleheads and selfish players. Lewis is owed $22.7M next year as an expiring contract. They didn't amnesty him yet, but they can waive him (he's partially guaranteed) this summer and cut $10M of his salary off of the books. They need to strongly consider moving Blatche. I'd let Young go one way or another. If things continue (record-wise), they'll be looking at a top 4 pick in the draft. Drummond has said that he will stay another year, but I doubt it. He's practically guaranteed to be a top 2 pick. The problem is that he plays the same position as McGee who they're probably going to ink up this summer. Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Harrison Barnes are all players with high B-Ball IQ that also play defense.

Details about the new NBA revenue sharing system, small-market teams to receive $16 million a year

Sources said that the core of the plan calls for all teams to contribute an annually fixed percentage, roughly 50 percent, of their total annual revenue, minus certain expenses such as arena operating costs, into a revenue sharing pool.

Each team then receives an allocation equal to the league’s average team payroll for that season from the revenue pool. If a team’s contribution to the pool is less than the league’s average team payroll, then that team is a revenue recipient. Teams that contribute an amount that exceeds the average team salary fund the revenue given to receiving teams.

-----------------------------------------------

League projections call for about 15 of the league’s 30 teams to receive payments from the new revenue sharing plan, with seven of the 15 neediest teams, such as the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Bobcats and Sacramento Kings, to receive a distribution of roughly $16 million after the new system is fully phased in, up from the nearly $5.8 million maximum that teams could have received this year.

The Magic decline the team option for Daniel Orton who they drafted in 2010. He will be an unrestricted free-agent this summer. He dealt with an injury that kept him out of his would-be rookie year, but has failed to play in an NBA game as of today. He played in 2 D-League games last season where he averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and a block in 21 minutes per game. He's 6'10 in shoes, weighing in at 269 with a 7'4 wingspan and just shy of a 9'3 reach.

I think he left college too soon. He wasn't going to get many minutes with Cousins and Patterson taking the bulk of the minutes in the frontcourt. He likely would have been a starter last year and would have had the opportunity to showcase himself. It will be interesting to see who will give him a chance.

The Hornets offered him a 4 year deal. Maybe he wanted 5 years or more (max) money. Indy will be making a push for him in the offseason as well as the Nets, Celtics and any other other team that misses out on Dwight and/or Williams.

I hope that the Hornets ownership situation is sorted soon, so that the franchise will have a clear cut vision of the direction they want to head into.

Wow, I was just thinking about Kaman. I didn't know the Hornets wanted him to stay away. I was hoping that he goes to a contender and has a big role where ever he goes. He's still a good center in this league.

He had a trade kicker in his contract, so his salary is now up to $14M. They may have their work cut out for them given what they are looking for in return (prospects and/or picks).

$5M is what came in between Gordon and the Hornets agreeing to a deal.

How close were the league-owned Hornets and Eric Gordon to finalizing a contract extension before Wednesday's midnight deadline? According to sources close to the talks, Gordon wanted a four-year deal worth no less than $55 million -- $5 million to 7 million shy of the projected four-year max -- while the Hornets' offer topped out at around $50 million. Gordon has played in only two games this season because of an ongoing knee problem but undeniably ranks as the most prized asset New Orleans acquired in the December deal that sent face of the franchise Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers. He'll be a restricted free agent in July, meaning that the Hornets' new owners -- assuming that the NBA finally finds a buyer by then as it hopes -- will have the right to match the inevitable interest in the Indiana native from the Pacers and other teams.
