Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
I'd be happy with:
JJ | Stephenson
Pierce | Caron
looks a lot better than:
JJ | Jamal
Jamal | Jamal
JJ | Stephenson
Pierce | Caron
looks a lot better than:
JJ | Jamal
Jamal | Jamal

Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
Yeah, Aminu is just not realistic to pursue if we were to give the MMLE to Pierce. Just minimum guys and whatever we can get for Crawford, if we can even get something.
Which by the way, tomorrow is the last day to waive Crawford and make him only $1.5M guaranteed. It's also the last day to use the two and a half million in cash we have left to throw in trades, of the $3.3M you can send out each season. So, the most viable possibility was to send Crawford + $1.5M cash so the team that receives him can waive him outright. But that ends tomorrow. If Jamal is still on the roster come next season I'm gonna be really disappointed

Clippers are pretty spot on with their FA targets. A Lance/Pierce/Wes/Lavoy/Watson offseason would be realistic and considered a success.

Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
C.J. Watson and Lavoy Allen are two guys I mentioned before. They would certainly be good for cheap. Watson has had injury issues with the Pacers, but he's a guy you can get for the minimum as a backup PG. Similarly Allen as a backup PF/C.
So it does look like Doc is planning to use Lance as a backup SF which means the team will be looking for a starting SF and a 3rd SF sized player just for matchup situations.
Re-sign Austin Rivers ($3 mil)
Sign and trade Paul Pierce for Jamal Crawford ($5 mil)
Biyombo or Ajinca for mMLE ($3.4 mil)
Sign CJ Watson (current contract $2.1M) for minimum
Sign Wesley Johnson for minimum
Sign Lavoy Allen for minimum
Chris Paul / C.J. Watson
J.J. Redick / Austin Rivers
Paul Pierce / Lance Stephenson / Wesley Johnson
Blake Griffin / Lavoy Allen
DeAndre Jordan /Bismack Biyombo or Alexis Ajinca
If DJ ends up being traded for Chandler, you essentially do the same thing just replace DJ with Chandler. The hardest thing would be Crawford for Pierce and gauging the going price for Biyombo or Ajinca

Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
Anyone else here prefer Austin to play back up PG and play Lance at SG instead of Lance being the backup 3?
With Lance and Austin both having the ability to handle the ball, I don't think we need another point guard.

That's the route I thought the team was going where Lance is primarily a backup 2, but plays some 3 also, but I guess we'll see.

I think the Clippers should really look into acquiring Biyombo.

AMEN! Although he is likely out of our price range. But I would be allllllllll over him being DJs backup.

Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
I'm still hoping someone offers Austin more than we can pay so we can have a proper PG off the bench (Watson would be ok if he's healthy) and have Lance doing Crawford's role.
Biyombo would be freakin awesome as a back up C, I thought he'd be way out of our price range, but I was very surprised by the Hornets not making him a QO. It's still a long shot, but if he doesn't get offers for much more than the MMLE, we'd be a great option for him really.
Which by the way, how on earth are we supposed to be getting Pierce? I doubt it is in a trade for Jamal, since he'd have just opted in, if that was the case. If he takes the MMLE he'd be renouncing money, he'd be best opting in and asking the Wizards to oblige a trade with Crawford + $1.5M, who then would've been waived at cost zero. Doubt they'd reject the idea. And I don't see him as a guy that takes the minimum. Not very sure we're gonna be able to get him now.

the clips need a big that can defend and rebound. they have got to see the need. not another pg who probably will not play much.

Re: Clipper 2015 Offseason
Like the idea of a legitimate back up PG and Austin playing off the ball. We still need to land a combo forward and a PF/C. Pierce would lost in as the combo forward.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

No surprise, but source says Clippers won't be releasing Jamal Crawford before his contract becomes fully guaranteed for next season.

I hope there is a plan already in place for a sign and trade for Paul Pierce and this is just a ploy to set such event up. if we don't get PP and lose DJ while trading away Spencer Hawes and Barnes for Lance and Jamal to sport our bench back court along with Austin, I am gonna be 100% fully behind firing Doc for good.
ehhhhh f it.
