Man, Minnesota is now my biggest worry in the West, especially if we don't shore up our backup five slot.
Wonder if we can find a way to swap Morris for Powell from Dallas, who gives us somewhat of a modern five and saves us some money

That Gobert trade is bonkers.
I haven’t listened to the audio but many seem to think it was the Clippers. Interesting.

Are they planning on trading KAT? This isn’t the 80s- you can’t really play 2 seven footers together for extended minutes

The Wolves got fleeced. I've complained about the PG trade over the years, but that looks like an absolute steal compared to giving up all those unprotected picks for a guy who's useless on offense.
I can't help but feel like Minnesota went all-in on the treadmill.

Why? KAT and Ant are high in talent, low on bball IQ. Gobert??? Guy's an absolute liability in the playoff in the modern NBA.

Well, that's nitpicking, innit?

Seriously--How do MIN and SAC and the Nets and Knicks and Wiz and Michael Jordan's team [I forget its name this week] invariably **** up?

Sorry, but I will never like giving up all those unprotected picks and Shai for anyone who isn't a prime LeBron/Duncan-level player, which PG even at his best is not. Only a championship could possibly change my mind on that. But at least PG is an actual star who can take over a game on offense. Gobert is a rich man's DJ.

Man, it sure seems like Minny has built a powerhouse team to compete at the highest level. In 1985.
Seriously--was being a C in the modern NBA with the current lack of traditional big men and diminished low post play so rough on KAT that he had to move to PF? Really? I've never looked at KAT as a PF; he was a semi-soft C that I don't think has the intensity to exploit mismatches he might see now--and doesn't have the perimeter lateral quicks or D to stay with some PFs. I just don't get the move at all.

I wonder if they are thinking of trading KAT- perhaps in some type of package with Russell

Agreed. This isn't Duncan/Robinson twin towers... not even close. KAT has always been a C to me.
I don't see Minnesota being any thing better than being exploited in the playoffs but at times an imposing regular season team. At best a second round exit and a fairly quick one.
Teams like LAC, Memphis, and GSW will be a real match up problem for Minnesota. They lost a lot of their "energy" and "toughness" depth with beasley, vanderbilt, pat bev going, and haven't really replaced that yet. Kyle Anderson is solid on both ends, though.
Maybe even Phoenix depending how things shake out.. missing some defensive size past Ayton right now, and need another scorer offensively on the wing.
The Playoffs don't care about your Analytics

They signed him just this week to a super max extension.
New ownership must be calling these shots.
One rationale could be that KAT is a very good 3 point shooter and can beat most 4s and 5s off the dribble if they extend themselves out to him.

Re: Transaction Discussion Part 4 (Trades, Free-Agency, News, Rumors & Ideas) Offseason Version!
I’d never underestimate our FO but I don’t see how we can put a package together for Durant that satisfies what Brooklyn is asking for. Yes, we can make salaries work in different ways but don’t have the picks.
We only have one roster spot open and only one need to fill. From the sounds of things they’re not in any rush to address it.
I’m starting to believe they’re banking on health and giving the current roster a chance to do its thing.

Only way it would make sense for the Clippers is to trade PG13 for KD.

I just don't see any avenue to KD besides PG, but why would Brooklyn do that
Return to Los Angeles Clippers
