He's not lazy or soft. He physically can't handle the grind of an NBA season anymore, and having to go through this same routine every year with him has become exhausting and demoralizing.

Yeah. Understand the premise. I don't think its exhausting, but do agree its demoralizing; I guess I'm just more sympathetic as I've followed his career since his rookie season, and a bit more open-minded based on game-cycle to game-cycle variables of physical status being better.

In the least, for me its "we'll see" : )

All we can do is cross our fingers anyways. We'd be gluttons for punishment at this point to expect 60+ games and a healthy playoffs this year, but I did like how Kawhi at least is trying to be positive about it???

All I am really hoping for is the team plays hard and the new pieces sorta gel together, and that we beat Houston and keep our 1st this year. That would be an unexpected surprise given how little of our future draft picks we control.

For us Clipper fans, this is not breaking news. I don't even consider this to be news.

At this point all i want from Kawhi team to accept a medical retirement so Clippers can have that cap space from 2025 summer. I don't care if it means Ballmer eating that extension from his pocket.

It's time to flush the toilet because it stinks.

I am getting more and more disengaged from this team.

We should have never resigned Kawhi. We should have traded him when we had a chance (and we had a few windows for a decent return) .
I love the excitement of Ballmer for the team and the new arena, and I genuinely believe he wants to win. I am just sick of the FO and medical staff of this team, starting with Lawrence Frank. He keeps lying to the media and the fans. It's same old **** with nothing for us fans to look forward to.
New arena would have been a great opportunity to reset. Forget about selling tickets. tickets can be free for the next 100 years and Ballmer would still be one of the 10 richest man on earth.

This isn't even news. Glad we finally got that out of the way when it should've been announced right after he was sent home from Team USA. But we're good if Harden can stay healthy. Its Kai Jones' team! Lets Go!!

The new era has already started. Everyone here should’ve been expecting this anyway. If he ends up playing at all…great. If not…we’re on our way without him.

They all need to be fired. No other team besides maybe the Wizards or Pistons would tolerate this much incompetence for so long. This is why we never actually win anything.

I know we're frustrated, but I think they have the right strategy- what's the point of having him grind early in the season if we already know he can't play a full season? Hopefully Harden and crew can hold down the fort and he can start playing in December or January. May as well try a new strategy with Kawhi as the old strategy obviously didn't work.

Wow, I think after all this time, "rehab" may be too hopeful. He's too young to be recuperating this long. Did he have Tommy John surgery of the leg?

It may be time to face (very sad) facts.

Welcome to Clipperland.

The Clipper fan understands the Book of Exodus better than anyone... what it's like to struggle 40 years in the wilderness... and Genesis.. why Cain went after Abel... So fLakers, look out... we're coming.

So we can trade him at the deadline and finally move on.

The Spurs had already said a LONG time ago that he had a degenerative issue. His status from season to season has consistently supported that this is the reality. I don't think we should continue to look at anything related to Kawhi and his health as "normal", it's not, he's easier to get injured, he does not recover the same way as others and his issues are going to linger, there's no "solution". The facts were already there, the Clippers were simply hoping and keep hoping they can somehow manage it because the Raptors were able to do so for one season when he was 27 years old and played 60 regular season games.

...but he's now 33 with many more missed games, and the issue is not meant to get better as time goes on, soo...

This is a bottom feeder team without Kawhi. With a healthy Kawhi 8th seed at best. Scoring will be a big struggle for us. Harden is still a very capable player but he's not the Houston Harden anymore.

Obviously I'll be very happy if they can prove me wrong.

the only way you will be wrong is if Powell and/or KPJ really step up to provide some scoring punch.

Their defense should be stronger this season

I didn't used to be a conspiracy theorist. Not UFOs, not the Kennedy Assassination, not COVID, not Hunter Biden's laptop. But how Kawhi was dropped from the Olympic team, saying he was ready and L-Frank saying Kawhi was ready--then learning he had surgery in the offseason, and now he's still not ready to go...

Ballmerville is somewhere between the Wizard of Oz and East Germany.

I wanna know what's on Kawhi's laptop.
