Oklahoma City would likely be a S&T. Boston could be a S&T if they strike out on one of Hayward or George.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Boston would be nice if it were to come to that. They have nice spare pieces and are in the East

i would definitely be interested in simmons.

like, remaking the team into a super gritty defensive squad would be really entertaining to watch. sign simmons, sign tony allen, and just irritate the nba to 50 wins.

Oh yeh Blake is from OKC isn't he. That could get serious if they have genuine interest.

They don't have cap space so we could get quite a lot of assets from them too, especially if we took Kanter.

If we're going to be serious about this rebuild thing, don't bother tying up all available cap space on like 4 midlevel free agents for something like 5 years/75 million if it's not going to be a Paul George/Westbrook type FA.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.

I actually agree with you on this and I'll raise you a 13 and 0. If Griffin bails and we deal Jordan like I want, we should have enough cap space to bring home both local products in Russell Westbrook and Paul George. I have my doubts that Westbrook would abandon Oklahoma City like Durant did, but he does have a player option for 2018-19 and grew up in Long Beach while playing for my alma mater, UCLA. Also, George grew up a Clippers fan in Palmdale before Olshey passed on him in the 2010 NBA Draft. He's still projected to be a free agent next year for now when Westbrook could also be available.

If we can dump Doc and hopefully show some developmental progress this upcoming season with our depth and role players, Jerry West could pitch to the both of them the benefits of uniting together to play for a team heading in the right direction with a strong support group and salary cap space.

Sometimes just having enough cap space is enough to have star players join forces on your team because it matters most who they'll be teaming up with more than where they will be together. At the same time, being in Los Angeles doesn't hurt, especially when you have an enthusiastic owner with big aims for the franchise being advised by a wise basketball legend. Talk about a pivot from the loss of the Point God.

Doc Continues to Ramble on the Excuse Express

Post#328 » by Ranma » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:21 am

The media is finally catching on and pushing the narrative that Doc's reputation has taken a hit. He's been exposed as the "all talk, no action" snake-oil salesman who couldn't deliver on his false promises. This is one of the rare times where the media can actually be our ally in pushing this idea to support a campaign to oust him from the Clippers.

If enough stories detailing his foibles come out and fan opinion turns against him, Ballmer would feel the pressure and hear the public outcry to relieve him of his duties. I mean why invest in a arena project and pay a high price for a special adviser if he isn't going to follow through and get rid of the person most responsible for our failures and the one most likely to derail his grand vision for the franchise?

If you mean a top tier star, no, but a lower tier star, possibly. If this was about 5 seasons ago when they both had unlimited potential and were much younger, it is a different story. Clippers will need to get creative.

We don't have cap room to sign a FA. We don't have enough assets to make a trade for a star, unless we want to unload 2-3 1st round picks.

We indeed need to get creative. Need to go after someone that nobody is thinking of, someone who is off the market.
Perhaps Portland would be willing to trade Lillard or CJ for draft picks and a little cap relief? They have $136 million salary right now, and a .500 team

Don't take anything the bandwagon transplant ex-Clipper "fan" Bill Simmons says at face value. Guy flipped on us the second Doc signed for some stupid grudge carried over from the Celtics(even though they won a freaking ring under Doc) for Lord knows what reason. He is bitter over his own stagnant career and takes it out on us because we're an easy target, just like the rest of the media talking heads, who might I add DON'T ALWAYS HAVE OUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART.

i totally agree. I despise Simmons. Of course the lakers will always be the favorite team but the clippers have been doing very well in recent years- consecutive sellouts and tv deal, etc

Fair enough. It doesn't even necessarily have to be Russ or PG; it could be any free agent of that caliber, as long as it's one of them. We could also fill out the roster with one or 2(not 4, but one or two) promising mid-level free agents looking for a bigger role on a team. I would personally hate to have to part ways with DJ and Blake, as I do with any homegrown Clipper, but if it's a last resort possibly. The thing is I don't have faith in the organization to get full value for them back as any team we're dealing is is going to treat it as a fire-sale.
