2023 Trade Deadline Thread: Conley/VanVleet/Lowry/etc. (Updated thread)

For Kyle Lowry,

In the 31 games he played around 30-39 minutes splits this season; he had 39% fg and 31% 3pt percentages on avarage 35 minutes per game. It's clearly too much for his 36 years old body.

but, in the 11 games he played around 20-29 minutes splits; he had 43% fg and 39% 3pt percentages on avarage 25.9 minutes per game. This is more respectable and in line with his career numbers. His true shooting rises from 55% to 58% when Lowry plays less. This is good, for comparison Reggie' true shooting is 52% on 25.7 minutes per game on the season. Lowry at limited only 25 minutes in regular season should be enough offensively.

Also, let's not forget Miami is one of the best defensive team in the league and Lowry is huge factor in that area. He can still help our perimeter D more than any guard we throw out there plus provide acceptable shooting numbers, playmaking and leadership.

The viable scenario IMO is a Lowry trade that gets us other assets back, since he is a negative value contract at this point. Our biggest asset is not Mann or Kennard, it's Ballmer's checkbook. We need to spend our way out of hell.

Terry Rozier has gotten the least commentary about coming here; I’m hoping that’s because he’s the one the FO wants. He's my sleeper choice.

He had a high ankle sprain at the start of the year, but his shooting is back to normal in the last couple of months. He’s not a true point, which is a strike against him—but he is a 4.5 to 5 apg guy with a good A/TO ratio. He’s a good to very good scorer. He’s relatively efficient. He’s not a good defender—but he’s not a terrible defender either (good wingspan). He’s played in over 85% of games since his rookie year. He’s got 3 years/$73 million left on his deal…but that’s more or less his value, and he’ll only be 32 when it ends. He’s a good character, great locker room guy. Of the remaining guys, he’s my first choice.

Getting Rozier/Plumlee would be great and is realistic. Been on the Rozier train for a bit now.. he'd be an upgrade in overall talent at lead guard, and has legit playoff experience

Listening to that podcast was hilarious. They were already pretty down after the Mavs loss and our lack or prospects to improve the roster, then at the very end finding out in real time about the KD trade completely broke them.

I feel like the Rozier/Plumlee deal is no longer an option with how openly the Clippers beat writers are talking about it. Especially Farbod saying he kept quiet about what he heard so the team wouldn’t lose any leverage in talks.

Missed this detail. Not that I thought he was going to be an option here again.

I think it’s a known fact that he is purely salary filler in a trade. It’s a good number to help match.

Warriors getting Saddiq Bey would be a crafty, good move... would be able to be a super 3/D guy for them with some scoring ability.. he came into the league as a good defender but as he got better offensively he lost that consistency on defense.

How many picks would Miami need to give up in order for us to take both Lowry and Duncan Robinson? It is pretty impossible to match salaries without giving up 4 players though.

Time for the front office to grow a spine and stop letting players who haven't won anything here decide our whole roster. I don't even dislike Russ, but assembling the All-Paul George's Friends Team has done absolutely nothing for us except fill our roster with players we can't trade. We're literally begging teams in public right now to trade for the last guy PG recruited.

1. Bonafide starter quality player
2. Still a better point guard than anyone we have
3. Immediately becomes number one full-time point guard for us
4. Is younger than Kawhi and PG
5. Many extra bonus points if we get Plumlee with him

Right, but Rozier is 28 and has better defensive capability when he'd have less offensive responsibility than he does on Charlotte.

He'd be an overall upgrade over Reggie. Rozier is in the same kind of position Reggie was with Detroit before he got waived and was revitalized with the Clips.
