I was fully committed to never watching another game with Doc as our coach. My confidence in the FO and Ballmer has been restored after two dreadful weeks. Too bad that we wasted an entire season with a solid squad, no serious injuries, and a decent shot at a ring, but it is what it is. It's nice to be excited about our future again, despite the tough road ahead. Go Clippers!

New Orleans would be the perfect spot for Doc. Young up and coming team he can help guide in the beginning of their careers.

I think it’s clear Kawhi gave the green light

Kawhi could have lit the green light himself.

I still remember the day when Dumbleavy got fired, that was one of the best day for me as a fan.

Today tops that by a mile.

If Doc went to Philly and he had any say, he'd run Simmons and Embiid back over and over again.

VERY seldom are the fans disappointed when the coach gets the boot because it usually comes with the taste of ashes. One follows the other almost by definition.

Doc's major thing is rapport with his players. When they quit on him in Game 7, the situation was unsalvageable. Had the players [particularly Kawhi] stood up, taken the blame and asked for another go, Ballmer's answer would probably have been yes. But the players tasted ashes too.

Philly has the same dynamic. Doc would have more pull with the players than the pathetic Brett Brown, but the problem is still with the softness of the players over there and the huge holes in their games. The irony is that either one could have had Jimmy Buckets--who's still playing while all the others have gone fishin'.

The young Pels seem the right fit for Doc, as he proved in 2018-19.

Doc should do the Pels and the Sixers a favor and return to ESPN as a NBA announcer.

Seriously great news. If Doc was still coach going into the next season, I would have zero expectations of winning the championship. I was prepared for it too... So this is a very pleasant surprise.

I'm not really sold on Lue, because it's hard to say how much of it was him, and how much of it was LeBron. If they did hire him, I wouldn't be mad, but I wouldn't be jumping for joy either. I kind of want a shocking, out of nowhere type hiring. I just hope whoever gets hired, they are a tactician type coach who makes adjustments (Carlisle, Vogel, Spo, Stevens, Nurse, Pop, etc...)

I was considering becoming a Bulls fan and getting rid of the Clippers if Doc had returned. Glad I don’t have to consider anymore.

Good Riddance. Can't wait to hear the stories come out of the former Clips now that he is gone. The 3-1 bum as Josh Smith called him. What he did by trading for Silver Spoon when he was going to be cut by the Celtics and then overpaying him should have cost him his job. Team went downhill after Silver Spoon was forced into the organization and took playing time and cap money from more deserving players.

I hope it isn't Lue. Dump Doc's entire staff.

Bring in Wes Unseld Jr. or Adrian Griffin. Griffin has been an assistant under Skiles, Thibs, Donovan and Nurse, so he has a pretty varied background and worked with top tier NBA players (e.g. Rose (at the time), Kawhi, Westbrook, Jimmy Butler). Unseld didn't assist on very good teams until Denver, but he runs their D. Unseld has been an assistant for a lot of coaches.

By comparison, the Ty Lue was only an assistant to Doc and LeBron.
Sam Cassell, coached under Flip Saunders and Doc.

i think i'd be fine with sam cassell. the guy is a leader and he's not afraid to light people up and say what needs to be said.

obviously don't know how good he is with x's and o's, though.

Wow just wow

This HAD to be a cold blooded Logo power move. Doc's position in the Clippers org looked unassailable despite the utter humiliation of choking a 3-1 lead. The Lakers beating down the Nuggz in 5 HAD to be the catalyzing factor for the sudden dismissal.

Wow, this firing was a long time coming, i was so **** mad after the whole Austin Rivers fiasco, that blatant nepotism for his scrub ass son to the detriment of the team.

With the right coach, the Clippers can be straight lethal. Needs to be an Xs and Os type, someone who can maximize the talent on the roster with solid schemes and ability to adjust.

lmao so tired of that take. austin rivers was ok. he wasn't great, he wasn't horrible, he was ok. he didn't disrupt the team, he didn't take minutes from people who deserved it more.

not sure why you think this is from the hand of jerry west, exclusively. the entire front office is very smart. no need to feed into some narrative.
