Am I reading too much into that comment?

This is my understanding but I get confused easily with some of this CBA stuff.

If he opts out he’s gone and we get nothing in return because we can’t sign and trade him to wherever he’s going.

Our best chance is he opts in and traded before the first. I guess there is wiggle room still?

I can’t wait for this to be over. Imagine getting MPJ after the team doctor said he’d never play again. We asked for too much draft capital?

If the PG to GS rumors have legs this could be interesting. I assume CP3 would be coming here but if a third team is involved for Wiggins and so on.

CP3 option is today. Will be watching for an extension later thus evening.

All Signs Point To A Reunion

Post#485 » by Wammy Giveaway » Fri Jun 28, 2024 7:58 pm

From what I've read on social media, opinion pieces and news articles, all signs point towards Clippers reuniting with Chris Paul. Realizing they will be in the gap for a year or two, they have decided to prioritize patching things up with their former savior and getting a second chance. They know they can't win a title right now; in fact, they could be in the bubble/out of the playoffs in those same one or two years. But at the very least they want to make things right with the guys who made them relevant.

Notice I said "guys." I would keep an eye on DeAndre Jordan if I were you. Even though he is still on contract with Nuggets, the fact they traded former Clipper Reggie Jackson means that he might be on the way out too. If Paul returns, so will Jordan.

Also, if they trade George, rumor has it Westbrook and Harden are out as well. So it will just be Leonard and a lot of role players, and their best acquisition has been assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy.

The inaugural Intuit Dome season may end up being a retirement tour for the remnants of Lob City. And the start of a new era.

Sounds like a nice story, but Clippers would get Paul back because his contract works, not because of patching anything up, and there's nothing to patch up as both sides got what they wanted when he left.

The Clippers also will 100% not sign DJ regardless of what happens. Denver traded for Holmes for a reason as DJ is not even a good backup anymore.

Agree. CP gave 100% and left here even-steven with Clipper Nation. My own take is that he wanted to get away from Blake--with whom he had zero chemistry on or off the court--and was intrigued with a fresh start and playing with Beard. They actually paired very well together until CP got hurt as usual and they got sick of each other.

It would be interesting if they've discussed giving it another try.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2922692-chris-pauls-beef-with-james-harden-during-rockets-tenure-reportedly-revealed

Even though the on-court partnership between Chris Paul and James Harden during their two seasons together with the Houston Rockets was fruitful, the duo was split up because Paul had issues with Harden as a teammate.

Per ESPN's Tim MacMahon, one of Paul's "biggest beefs" with Harden was his lack of interest in participating in the Rockets offense when he didn't have the ball, including "sometimes barely stepping over half court while spectating when Paul had the ball."

When the Rockets traded Paul to the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2019, there were rumblings of discord between the two stars.

Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reported the previous month that Paul wanted out of Houston because his relationship with Harden had become "unsalvageable" after going "nearly two months without speaking to each other during the season."

One source told Goodwill there was "no respect at all" between Paul and Harden.

The Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs during each of Paul's two seasons with the team, including a seven-game defeat in the 2018 Western Conference Finals. The 10-time All-Star missed the final two games of the series because of a hamstring injury.

I am sad that it didn't work out when he literally grew up as a Clippers fan and was begging the team to draft him back in the day, but something had to change. We just can't give a 4-year max to an underachieving 34-year-old under this CBA after everything he said on his podcast and how miserable the last couple seasons have been.

Damn. Dyson Daniel’s goes to Atlanta too.

Hopefully they stretch and waive him but knowing this FO they’ll use assets to trade him.

The org has behaved pretty shoddily with Blake, Nico and others but they gave PJ EVERY CHANCE to pull his career off the shttpile and crack the playoff rotation. He really owes them some favorable buyout terms but since this is the last real money he'll ever make in the game, you can't blame him for squeezing out every last penny either.

Moving on from PG has been years in the making now. We need to get a trade lined up and let him be Golden States problem.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Welcome Back.

I just think Warriors is perfect for him that me might actually help them. All time shotmaker(Curry) available most of the time and a playmaker who can lead the defense(Dray) both leaders in their on ways. They are in desperate need for a C&S guy.(oh good old klay)
2024-25 Clippers W/L Count against OKC, HOU, PHX, MIN (0-14)
2024-25 Clippers W/L Count against rest of NBA (43-18)

PG is inconsistent as a 3 point catch and shoot guy. He can get red hot and then throw up bricks for several games in a row

Thats what it'll take if GS wants PG bad enough. Package around Kuminga.

Otherwise Clippers should pass.

I do agree, and am not surprised this is happening. Let it happen, let him go.

Interesting. I liked Boston from some games he stepped up in. Seems like a trade is coming though.

I'm not too worried. PG is supremely talented, but just doesn't have the BB IQ and consistency to fit anywhere near like how Klay did. We've seen this over and over.
