Next 4 days could be interesting.

Lester Hudson is finally eligible to be traded as of 7/11/15. His salary is non-guaranteed if waived before 7/15/15.
Jordan Hamilton is non-gauaranteed for the season.

Combined with Crawford's contract, the Clips can take back up to $9.7M in trade.

That number can be bumped up to $11.18M if Wilcox is included.

Who are some realistic names that need bench scoring though? Serious question. I don't know.

I still think Crawford will be a clipper next year

That's the million dollar question.

So far, the Cavs and HEAT are the teams that have been rumored to have interest in Crawford. Miami signed Green, so that door is probably closed. Cleveland just signed Mo Williams and have JR Smith waiting in the wings. They're hoping to make use of Haywood's non-guaranteed contract, so maybe the possibility is still there.

Early days, but this has been an A offseason so far, dare I say A+. I have to give it up to Doc, as I was one of his more vocal critics regarding his role as GM, but he has done a complete 180 from not resigning Collison, the disastrous Dudley trade, and the Hawes overpay, among other things.

I'm not sure people realize exactly how top heavy our roster was last year, with CP3/Redick/Blake/DJ being pretty much the entire reason we were a 50 win+ team. With even replacement level players filling the gaps, we would have been favorites to win the title last year. Instead, we went out and got Stephenson and Pierce, who could both still start on a lot of NBA teams. Wesley Johnson was a great value pickup, and I was really pleasantly surprised Doc went young and cheap rather than old and pricey for once. We have had probably the worst backup bigs in the league since CP3 arrived, but Aldrich should at least provide adequate defense and rebounding, and even that will be a HUGE upgrade from what we got from Mullens/Hawes/Baby.

Happy days. Can't wait for the season to start.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.

We still need a TRUE backup PG, Nelson's been rumored, unless we just settle for Hudson/Austin again, which none of us really want.

That and someone like Darrell Arthur, then I'll be happy. Assuming we keep Big Baby/Udoh.

No more Wilson Chandler for us. He just signed an extension with Denver.

Wilson went full potato there.

We coulda REALLY used that guy. Wonder what was really hanging up the negotiations the 1st time around.

yeah they were demanding a ransom for just an ok SF.

the contract will look ok but seriously, what the hell is denver doing? they need to be rebuilding hard but that's not happening when you hold on to guys like chandler/faried/lawson, etc.

Crawford to Cavs Hinges on J.R. Smith

Post#551 » by Ranma » Sun Jul 12, 2015 10:30 am

Jason Lloyd, Akron Beacon Journal (7/11/15)
Jamal Crawford, however, remains available.

Despite insistence from the Clippers to the contrary, league executives in Las Vegas believe they would be willing to part with Crawford, who has been linked to the Cavs in trade talks.

But the optimism surrounding the Cavs and J.R. Smith striking a new deal renders a move for Crawford unnecessary at this point, particularly considering what it would cost the team in luxury taxes. If Smith departs in free agency, the need for Crawford increases.

James made clear his desire during the red carpet premiere of his Hollywood film Trainwreck.

“We’ve got to re-sign Tristan,” James said Friday. “Hopefully, we can bring back J.R. (Smith) as well.”

If James, who initially endorsed the trade for Smith, wants him back despite his dismal Finals performance, then Smith is a strong candidate to return.

I've no idea what the rass are the Nuggets trying to by resigning Chandler, are they looking for the most consecutive seasons winning 30 games? But yeah there goes our most realistic good trade for Crawford.

Guess Mike Malone doesnt want to be sabotaged. No matter how good of a coach you are, putting up losing seasons will usually get you fired.

either that or they figured they'd extend him just to build his value in a trade.
but if that's the case…Wilson should have waited until next offseason and saw what his market was. If Wes Matthews got $70 million off of an achilles injury, the threat of an injury this year wouldn't prevent him from AT LEAST hitting the same numbers he got now if not more.

yup. all new coaches want to win. i don't blame malone for that. sucks for denver fans though since they'll be stuck on the treadmill until big changes are made.

also any word on filling out the roster? darrell arthur or josh smith? any other names of importance? i haven't heard a peep and i think we can still nail the last couple moves if done right.

Yanick Moreira will sign with the Clippers

Yanick Moreira will sign a partially guaranteed contract with the Clippers, a source told Sportando. The Angolan big man comes from SMU where he averaged 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 2014-15.

Sportando

Moreira is listed at 6'11 and 220 lbs. He averaged 9.6ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.2 bpg on 46.3% FG and 66.7% FT in 25.2 mpg in summer league.

I would guess that this is a training camp deal.

Missed Out on Harkless and Bargnani

Post#557 » by Ranma » Mon Jul 13, 2015 2:55 am

Yeah, Moe Harkless would have been a fantastic get at that price. You would think Doc would still have connections from his Orlando days. I'm not sure where we stand with all of our picks, but I'm guessing the problem is that Doc has dealt and leveraged the rights to our future 2nd-round picks where we can't offer any appealing picks in that round for a while. Why would a team wait to get a 2nd-round pick when they can get one sooner from another team without complications. Just another lesson for Doc the GM to learn in discarding our draft assets so nonchalantly. Even J.J. Redick thought he would have been a nice addition.

Also, Andreas Bargnani just changed course from the Kings and signed a minimum deal with a player option for a 2nd year with the Nets. He would also have been a nice acquisition at that price, but Bargnani seemed to like the fit in Brooklyn, I assume, because of the available playing time. I guess going up against Wes Johnson for minutes as Paul Pierce's understudy was too intimidating for him.

if bargnani was on this team i would have quit on the spot.

the dude is worse than jamal crawford. even he doesn't play defense as badly as him.

We've been giving away our future 2nd round picks since the Dunleavy/Olshey days. We traded away top-55 protected picks in the past, but that was before we had any idea that we'd have a top 5 record in the league.

2013 2nd was traded in 2009 for Alex Acker and 2011 2nd (Trey Thompkins).
2014 2nd was traded in 2010 for Bobby Brown.
2015 2nd was traded twice in 2009 for Hassan Adams and Cheikh Samb.
2016 2nd was traded in 2009 for Rasual Butler.

2015 2nd was traded in 2012 for Nick young

2017 2nd was traded in 2015 for Austin Rivers
2018 2nd was traded in 2014 for Byron Mullens

Our 2nd round picks are so complicated. For example, if it's 31-50, it goes to this team. If it's between 51-55, it goes to this other team. If it's between 56-60, it goes to this other team.
