I don't think the Kings would have wanted that trade, so it would be interesting, but doesn't seem like that's what they were looking for

at least with dj they would have got semi star to build around. way better then any of the trash they got

Do you really want to build around "semi stars"? Probably not. DJ would also be an anti-tank type of player. Right now they got a young player, good or not, and they got a draft pick, though it won't be that high as of now, but a lot higher than anything the Clippers could offer. DJ is a 28 year old player who would likely leave them in 1.5 seasons after he declines his 2018-2019 option. Their trade was not great, but trading for DJ and the non-existent young players or good picks the Clippers have would have been much worse.

I guess you didn't hear the Lakers canned Mitch Kupchak and Jeannie Buss took away big brother Jim's basketball-decision power and gave it to Magic. I'm not surprised it happened, because Magic was essentially openly campaigning for the president of basketball ops job when he making the rounds around ESPN last week.

I know he wants to bring in Kobe as GM (LMAO), but I think Jeannie's common sense will usurp Magic and bring someone more qualified to handle the day-to-day operations...with all of his other commitments, I don't think Magic will spent no more than two days a week in the team HQs in El Segundo. I usually don't have much sympathy for anyone associated with Purple and Gold, but I think Mitch was a fine GM, and he learned under the great Jerry West...Mitch was part of that organization, either as a player or executive for about 35 years, but I guess with the Buss kids, loyalty doesn't matter much anymore.

If there's a guy who could be a good fit in the Clippers' front office, I wouldn't mind Kupchak as vice president as basketball operations, as long as Ballmer can establish "checks and balances" between Doc and Mitch--hell, if Doc insists keeping little Larry Frank in the front office and keep his own front office power, fine...just make Frank an underling to Mitch, and Doc leaves the front office responsibilities with those two.

never heard anything about him being separated from the guggenheim group so i assume yes.

also i do agree, bringing kupchak along would be a good addition to the front office

He's been there every day...I got first hand accounts of it. Secondly I don't think Ballmer has the guts to bring in Mitch, Doc would never allow it. Mitch was and is a good GM, he has a penchant for giving out a bad deal every so many years but the new ways of NBA operation has passed him by. Unless he opens himself up to the new ways of business I don't see him joining another team any time soon.
