no thanks. we have Montrezl Harrell and Willie Reed in case DJ is gone. no need to trade out an asset as good as Danillo for a backup center. I don't think Dieng can start over either one to be honest.
ehhhhh f it.

What's up Clips fans, Raps fan here in peace. Just wondering what everyone thinks of Harrell. He isn't playing a ton of minutes but when he does he seems effective on both ends. Is he in the future plans as far as you can tell?

Woj's latest on Deandre and Lou potential trades:
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/Woj22002854/nba-trade-deadline-biggest-storylines-potential-deals-watch-adrian-wojnarowski
Not much news, it seems like there's not a great asset to be had so far, and unless someone gets desperate closer to the deadline, he'll be a Clipper for a few years more.
He definitely is, but I can also see him traded if the right deal comes up. He's a really good offensive player that sticks to his strengths, not a great defender but he does try his hardest. At worst, he should be a career energy big off the bench, at best he'll find a coach that can squeeze the best out of him and become an important role player on a good team. I like him a lot tbh.
Adrian Wojnarowski wrote:The future of DeAndre Jordan
The biggest names on the trade market can dictate momentum, and so far, the sluggish pursuit of LA Clippers veteran DeAndre Jordan reflects the overall morass. Jordan, 29, can decline the player option on his $24.1 million contract for 2018-19, and most teams believe the All-Star center will be willing to re-sign with the team that trades for him -- as long as they're willing to pay him his long-term extension. So far, serious offers to Los Angeles have been slow to come. "He's a difference-maker, but I'm not sure anyone thinks he puts you over the top," one GM said.
Because so few elite teams, if any, play through the center position offensively, there's less of an urgency to exhaust trade assets on Jordan before seeing who else might join the trade market. Milwaukee has been determined to find a center, and Jordan tops the Bucks' list, but it's unclear if they have a package to eventually make the deal.
The Clippers aren't set on trading Jordan at all costs, because the idea of bringing back marginal draft picks with heavy protections and so-so talent in a trade is far too unappealing.
Two years ago this week, the Denver Nuggets fetched two first-round picks to send modestly talented center Timofey Mozgov to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is unlikely that the Clippers will get that for their All-NBA center, largely because the dynamics of trading picks for players has changed.
Fewer picks are available in deals that don't include frontline starters, and several NBA executives believe the fallout from the 2013 Boston-Brooklyn trade has played a part in fostering that reluctance.
"No one wants to end up embarrassed like the Nets were," one Eastern Conference GM said.
Because there are so few teams with maximum salary-cap space this summer, Jordan's best option could still be re-signing with the Clippers -- and revisiting a trade again in the future.
Another Clipper with value, guard Lou Williams, is attractive because he's authoring the best offensive season of his career and holds an expiring contract. Bench rentals rarely render first-round picks anymore, but Williams will be a coveted commodity for a contender closer to the deadline.
Given how many draft picks the Clippers have missed on or dumped in trades, it is incumbent on the new front-office regime of Lawrence Frank and Michael Winger to nail these deals.

I like him too, but Trezz is a chaos guy. He can stir things up in a hurry, but OTOH when the game is going well, you don't need a chaos guy. Back of the rotation type who might be the hero in a 25 minute stint in a come-from-behind win, but might play 5 minutes the next night. He doesn't really have a steady game that you can adapt to a system nor is he the steady rebounder you'd like in a big. You just hit the GO button and see what happens.

And you guys believe he's poor defensively? Judging by his measurements he looked like a guy who could be put on Lebron and not get completely abused. Am I way off here?

He's really not even a PF, he's more an undersized center. I can't see him guarding mobile wings away from the hoop. So far we don't ask him to.
He's a guy. A pretty good guy--he was a high 2nd-rounder, the 32nd pick, and he plays like one, no more or less. You Torontoans could use him up there but you don't trade more than that to acquire a guy like Trezz either. But unless you do, we'll keep him, thanks.
He's not a starter, he's not the core of a bench, he's, you know, a guy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He did get put on Lebron for about 15-20 mins the last time around, and he didn't get completely abused, but he did get somewhat abused lol
He's the type of guy that will give full effort in 1-on-1 situations, but struggles to make good reads and position himself in the right spot, he struggles a bit with P&R coverage too. He's got good length but doesn't make the best use of it, and is not a good rim protector either. He's not a huge liability but he's a minus on that end.

I don't see why you guys are looking to trade DJ?
I mean is a Thompson & Frye worth it? I'm not seeing the value. Maybe Thompson can give you 75% of DJ on 50% of the cost after DJ gets his payday? It just doesn't seem like it's anything the Clips should be such a rush to do.

Clips are in no rush or it would already have been done. Thompson isn't even a starter anymore. Only the addition of the Brooklyn pick makes sense, and I just don't see the Cavs' owner throwing away HIS future for one last gasp with LeBron. And I don't think we're going to get value for DJ anywhere else in a league de-emphasizing big men and one at the moment so dominated by GSW and whatever team LeBron decides to play for.
Better to hang on to DJ and hope he stays for less than the max. If he wants the max, it's a tough decision. With DJ anchoring the middle surrounded only by ex-Rocket bench players and G-Leaguers, we still won some games. DJ was the only thing standing between us and the pits of hell. [Well, that and Lou, but that's another story, although a related one...]

If DJ is going out, what about Washington? Gortat + Oubre + Smith + 1st (lottery protected) for Jordan. Asking for a 1st might be much, but that's a starting point.

Dec 4, 2017 - According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Wizards could send Marcin Gortat, Kelly Oubre Jr., Jason Smith, and a 2018 lottery-protected first-round pick to the Clippers in exchange for DeAndre Jordan. The deal works on ESPN's NBA Trade Machine.

I can live with that but then roster spots become an issue as we already have 14 on the roster.
Edit: Wait, with Beverly's DPE, does that mean we can carry 16 so this would be legal?

I wouldn't. Take out Bev and it's a closer no.

What would it take for you to take a deal for Shumpert or J.R. Smith from Cleveland?

It's not really realistic from Washington's perspective.
For the Wizards the idea has to be to resign Jordan and there's just not any way that you can pay for a roster with 4 max contracts.
Porter and Gortat seems like the more likely scenario but that would make the trade unbalanced in the Clippers favor.
Would the Clippers throw in Williams and eat the last 2.5 years of Mahinmi's contract instead for Porter?
