I'm not getting sucked in this time like I was last game. It's almost more infuriating that this team starts giving a crap midway through the 4th quarter when it's too little, too late than if they just didn't care at all.

Can I just see Ben Simmons. If harden is gonna play this bad can I have Simmons on jokic or Murray and not just get torched.

Regular season Powell and playoff Powell are not the same thing. Hes a foul merchant and they dont call that in the playoffs. He doesnt have enough cred to get them

I kinda think they did too much gimmick stuff. Harden too much on Jokic. Zu on everyone besides bigs.

Re: RD 1 GAME 5: LAC (2-2) @ DEN (2-2)—TUE 4/29 7 PM, TNT
all the worst culprits in an ugly game.
- bad james harden showed up. i'd been trying to give him a lot of leeway because i think his playoff narrative is unfair but this certainly doesn't help. needed to take more shots and do a lot more.
- kawhi was invisible it felt like, despite having a near triple double. which woulda been fine if good james harden had shown up to take all those shots kawhi's not taking. we needed kawhi to dominate and it felt like he was just in a random RS game.
- that powell magic is gone. the injury at the break really ruined him, sadly. he's in subtraction by subtraction mode. it's all kinds of bad. that TO at the end was just game-ending.
- good to see dunn bounce back. he, simmons, and derrick jones jr need to eat up all of bogi's minutes from here on out.
- wish zu got those shots off earlier in the game but honestly? wouldn't have mattered, for at least one obvious reason.
- which is obviously bogi. absolute treachery whenever he's on the court. having his best scoring game of the series didn't even remotely do enough to make up for his miserable defense and fouling. if he doesn't play one further minute this series i'll be ecstatic. adelman/nuggets have relentlessly switched and hunted him with gordon/MPJ when possible and he's given up an endless amount of FT's and and 1's. it's actually insane. feels like doc rivers using montrez harrell to defend jokic in the bubble for 3 straight games in the 3rd for 3 straight losses - while mike malone was going "WHY'S HE LETTING ME ROB HIM BLIND???"
i don't think we're cooked but i think we're in bad shape. i imagine guys are demoralized. playoff murray was always coming and now we have to rely on role players stepping up because i don't think we can rely on one of kawhi or harden to show up. that's REALLY not where you want to be with a team like this.

No urgency, no fire, no hunger, no energy, no will to compete, no anger, no fight, no pace, no consistency.. no nothing! Westbrook shot better than Harden, Zu, and Norm. Zu with two boards, no rebounding all around. Everyone just standing there flat-footed, couldn't pull in one loose ball that was right in front of us. Wish we had a real young pg with speed backing up Harden. He's been so slow, lethargic, and I take it disinterested out there the last two games. Norm is for the regular season. I want to go to the game on Thursday, but will they show up and want to play is the question.

I'm more frustrated to Ty Lue than players. The team consist laid-back players, the coach shouldn't try to outcool them. They are not a good match for winning.

that one board where powell kinda took a step towards the ball and swiped at it (instead of going whole hog securing it) reminded me of his game 1 TO that led to the nuggets 9-0 run.
i saw that and was like, yep, that's one of those microcosms. if this whole team's doing that, we're toast.
and toast we were.

Harden being unplayable was our downfall. When he isnt scoring, he is worthless on the court

I allow myself to get too emotionally invested in this team. It almost seems like a an abusive relationship- they very rarely reward their fans. Even when they do, you just know the success won't last. I'm firmly middle aged now and it is doubtful they will ever put together a championship run in my lifetime (hopefully have at least 20 years left- so who knows?)

If the players have no urgency it’s because the coach doesn’t. It’s so frustrating.

I agree- seems like Shaw got more out of them. JVG would maybe get them fired up too

I don't know that is was really a sense of urgency (although that was part of it)- just a lack of timely shooting and the Nuggets being red hot- including Westbrook (stomach turning). Also, every time a possible steal was about to happen, Denver somehow regained possession and then got a dunk or 3.
They better come ready to play on Thursday or they will get embarrassed. The Nuggets are champions and smell blood.

i agree, urgency may have played a role, but that's not an overriding factor as to why we lost. i'd say there was a lack of shooting overall (at least from the right players).
i do think the nuggets got red hot, and i think everyone on the planet who knows basketball knew jamal murray was going for 40 tonight before the game even started. but i think the thing you're saying about possible steals turning into missed chances is more than that (at least to me).
because i feel you're really talking about not just steals alone, but also those 50/50 boards we lost. and to the bigger point, the inability to gain any traction or generate runs when they were right within our grasp. and to me the biggest on-court culprit was bogi by miles and miles - which lue should have seen and known, but didn't, and we got punished for it. i mean, all the games up to this point have been very close and bogi has been an absolute wretch in every game thus far in limited minutes. but tonight he gets the most minutes all series AND is in a featured role? it should be no surprise to anyone at all that we got smacked.
like, what's this dude doing out there? is he trying to foul out for this game and the next one all at the same time? maybe he'll try to rack up 12 fouls next game so he can be DQ'd for next season's opener? and what's ty lue doing letting him play this much while giants who are 50 pounds heavier than him take him to task every chance they get to iso him? someone needs to ask lue what the hell he's thinking.
