We're so close, now Denver has 6 straight points

Clippers give up their 16th offensive rebound of the night and Melo is able to capitalize. Nuggets now lead by 4 with 43 seconds left on the clock.

If Thomas is out any significant time, it's Powell, Williams & Fazekas. :(

Nuggets win 110-104.

Poor way to end the game. Clips allow the Nuggets to get offensive boards left and right and let the clock run out. No real effort to foul even though it was pointless. Good effort by the Clippers tonight. They played a lot better than expected given the circumstances. Al tied his career high with 33 points while also picking up 12 rebounds & 4 assists. Maggette was 2nd in command with 28 points (4-5 3PT), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and only 1 turnover.

Iverson willed the Nuggets to victory. 38 points to lead all scorers and hit them when Denver needed them all.

Still a little pissed off at Camby though. Could have been a Flagrant-2.

They should have gone to Maggette towards the end. He was getting his calls when driving to the basket. Just bad shot selection. :/

The way I see it, even with all the offensive boards given up, Clippers woulda won had Tim Thomas not been single-handedly responsible for 6 or so of the Nuggets points.

You can't be too mad, because we were competitive in a game that looked like a laugher. We lost because we couldn't get a rebound, justified by the fact that we're missing all of our significant big men. It was great to see a competitive game though....and Al Thornton is the TRUTH.

I just read that the Sonic waived Ira Newble...anybody know if he would fit the bill? Does he play any C or does he usually stay at the 4 spot?

He's a 6'7" swingman. I hope the Clips wouldn't sign him as a center.

That's probably a good call...apparently my knowledge of light-skinned Eastern Conference bench players isn't up to par; I thought I remembered him playing in Ilgauskas' spot in Cleveland a few times. Eh, maybe I just confused him with Drew Gooden...but no, there's no mistaking The Patch.

Might have been Dwayne Jones. He is a back up big man for the Cavs but doesn't get too much time. He fits the bill of light-skinned Eastern Conference bench player though

That Soul Patch is comedy though.

Vareja(sp?) I think plays backup for Big Z too. He's also another one of them light skinned bench player.

lol NO WAY am I gonna confuse Ira Newble with the Brazilian 'Fro... Newble got the braids and the light eyes, I know who dude is, I just thought he was someone else.... :o So, that doesn't sound too convincing...lol at least I know what I'm talking about!

Psh...who needs scrubs from the East anyway when you got Nick Fazekas runnin' thangs.... 8)

Didn't get to see much of Thornton's impact in the replay because of editing for time constraints. He was conveniently edited out. It was good to see EB & Shaun being interviewed. ESPN commentators gave Al a lot of props so I was pleased to hear that. I'll cut Camby some slack. He got a lot of ball he just happened to get a lot of head as well. Clippers have to box out and deny the opponent from collecting so many offensive rebounds. 6 of the Nuggets last 8 were second chance points. Corey, Al & Cuttino all exhibited poor shot selection & clock management in the last two minutes. I was entertained and enjoyed their undying effort. So it's all good.

i had to work last night but conveniently enough the game was on espn so i got to watch a decent amount of the game. i missed the camby foul and didn't see every posession down the stretch, but i can't help but think the lack of a floor general contributed to the poor shot selection down the stretch last night as mkwest mentioned.

i'm very happy we stayed as competitive as we did on national tv, especially considering how extremely short-handed we were. i'm proud of the guys for their effort.

one thing i noticed looking at the boxscores. quinton ross with his extremely lack-luster boxscore actually had the clippers best +/- contribution on the team in his ten minutes. with the huge game from iverson last night, maybe playing q ross more than 10 minutes would have been a good idea. especially when you take into consideration his career success against denver and 'melo more specifically.

Ross has seemed kind of irrelevant lately with Maggette and Thornton taking all his minutes. While it would be hard to part with the numbers Maggs has put up this year I think the team should be willing to consider letting him go in favor of a more balanced team. Thornton must start at SF next year and Ross would still be a good backup. Replace Maggs with a great shooting guard or combo guard through the draft or free agency. What do you think?

Oh, and when can we get a new coach? Dunleavy has done some good things but his effectiveness and game decisions are seriously lacking. It's time for a new voice for our new team next season. Who's with me?

i'm with you on replacing maggs with a shooter/combo guard. i like the idea of a s&t for ben gordon. he's played for skiles who has a pretty similar appraoch to dunleavy. gordon also won a national title w/ uconn and also happens to be a combo guard who can shoot. makes almost too much sense to me. on the dunleavy thing, i'm willing to give him another year. the way injuries have killed us this year i'm not pointing the finger at dunleavy and i'm banking on the theory we've gotten all the disappointment out of our system last season and once we get healthy we'll get back to business again.

Love the effort everybody gave last night on national t.v. We just need Kaman and EB to return asap so that we can catch a glimpse of what's to come in 08/09.

The Clippers almost had the game won last night. The Nuggets are really lazy defensively when they have decent leads on teams. It's a wonder they don't have a subpar record. The last minute the Clips played was a headache to me. When they were tied at 104, a couple of Clips players jacked up three pointers instead of attacking the basket instead of putting the pressure on the Nuggets interior. It also didn't help that AI cracked it up for the Nuggets when it mattered most. What really got me was that the Clips wasted precious time to foul immediately to stop the clock. Why in God's name would waste time only to foul someone in 2.2 seconds left in the game. Great timing Clips. :nonono:
