But you'd think playing time would be important to him, since he may want more than a minimum contract after this season.

Though he may have a lot less pressure than he did at Charlotte, where after he signed the big contract, he couldn't really produce the scoring expected of him.

Playing for a purpose could lead to a larger role somewhere

Point Batum

Post#722 » by Wammy Giveaway » Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:32 pm

Batum will be the only Clipper on the roster to have averaged 5 AST per game four times in his career. Every other Clipper has peaked up to at least 4 AST per game. Lou Williams has been the de facto point guard due to averaging 5 AST per game while on the Clippers - and he's a bench guy.

Don't be surprised if Batum ends up being the starting point guard for Clippers. Clippers may attempt to employ a four-forward lineup.

Hopefully Batum isn’t totally washed up. He used to be a very solid player on both sides of the ball.

If he gets back to form of the season before last it’s a good pickup

If Batum can actually still play basketball, this is very good, adds more length, and also more playmaking.

You can get better playmaking by having a top tier playmaker, or you can get better playmaking by having a lot of fairly solid playmakers and a system to put them in the right spots.

I can't judge how good of a system Lue can develop, but swapping Shamet for Kennard and adding Luc gives the team 4 6'5+ wings who can handle, run pick and rolls and pass.

That's always a good thing. Let's see if he has a Boris Diaw post Charlotte revival too, maybe he's more of a skinny small ball 4 at this stage than a 3 when it comes to mobility.

That’s what I’m thinking and he might be more of a Harkless role without being able to guard backcourt players. Think the next signing is a wing

Nicolas Batum plans to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers after he clears waivers, sources tell The Athletic NBA & The Stadium.

It has felt for what seems like weeks now, that Hill to the Clippers is by far the most logical move out there. Think Lou is the insurance should Kennard's knee issues flare up, which is why the deadline would make the most sense to move Lou and not now.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Hollis-Jefferson could be a option but I hate that he doesn’t try to or can’t even shoot

Leonard definitely looks leaner.

Not only logical, but familial. Hill has played with Paul George before back in their days with the Indiana Pacers.

Pistons just waived Zhaire Smith, who's had a star-crossed early career with injuries and a f'd up allergic episode... but I think he's worth the waiver claim, though we'd probably get beat out.

^ He would be a perfect pick up but some team will claim him for sure.

Injury news of our own.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/story/2020-11-30/five-questions-the-clippers-face-for-training-camp

Jay Scrubb, the 6-foot-6 guard drafted 55th overall, will undergo surgery this week to insert a screw in his right foot, according to a person with knowledge of the plan who asked for anonymity to discuss the player’s health. The recovery is expected to take three to four months. Scrubb was the junior college player of the year and will receive one of the team’s two two-way contracts. He has explosive athleticism, and the surgery is a step to maintain it in the future.

Bummer Scrubb is going to be out a while. I guess this really will be a redshirt year for him

How does that work... can you IR a 2-way guy and sign another 2-way? (like put Bowman on a 2-Way and sign a more legit "floor general" type PG to the big roster). Or will Scrubb not technically be signed and we'll just hold his rights?
