that's called home court advantage. Harden early foul trouble etc.

Sure. You gotta expect it. I only posted that because it’s from the last 2 minute report. It was a missed call. It’s not the reason we lost but another example of how bad a whistle Leonard has.

when he did this i myself screamed for about 10 straight minutes. it felt game-losing at the moment because it destroyed any lead-building momentum, and that's before the rest of the next 7 straight points came from denver. but mostly i think because you knew if norm was doing this kind of thing, then the rest of the team would almost certainly follow along - which they did.

norm could have:
- passed to harden (most obvious choice)
- passed to jones for a 3 (and who towers over murray)
- tried to have drawn a foul on westbrook
- passed to zu (though a bit risky with murray and jokic anticipating it)
- tried to drive in between murray jokic (also risky, but whatever)

instead he went with the worst option he could think of, because (???) reasons. literally dribbling the ball out of bounds behind himself would have been a better result. if i squinted really hard i could maybe kinda see what he was trying to do, but nah, not interested honestly. i just want him to keep it simple, because the team has what it needs to beat most every other team. that means everyone simply playing within their means and roles, and not forcing things.

we moved on from paul george only for norm to have a career year - and then turn into the ghost of paul george himself by driving through traffic, coughing up the ball, and giving it up on the silliest of passes. it's the first time all season i can recall one of the key players forcing things outside their role. that's not how we got here.

unfortunately for norm (and the team), it's looking a lot like subtraction by subtraction now.

Not worried about game 1. This is a marathon and not a sprint. There will be adjustments each game.

The one thing the team can definitely do is get out of the regular season mentality. Some of the shots they took and passes they made were not playoff level plays. Harden had a 3 pt attempt in the first half where the defender fell. Rather than driving in for the better shot and putting pressure on their D, he stood there for a second and then decided to launch the 3. He missed and I believe Denver took that to the other end and scored.

We don't need Harden trying to be a hero. We have all seen playoff Harden over the years. We don't need his past tendencies showing up.

Powell's pass directly to a Denver player was just inexcusable as were Kawhi's passes to no one. I think all three of those turnovers were a teammate not doing as expected. They will watch it on tape and be upset with their lazy plays and clean it up.

The road team's job is to take 1 of 2 on the road in the 1st series. Clips have only 1 home loss since the All-Star break (OKC game where we led late). Clips only have 3 home losses with Kawhi on the court (Lakers and Pacers in early Feb, OKC). Win tonight and they are feeling really good about their chances.
