From yesterday: http://hoopshabit.com/2014/10/15/phoeni ... ald-green/

Plus, Marques Johnson talked about it on The Beast 980: http://kfwbam.com/2014/10/16/marques-jo ... ald-green/

Gerald Green could be on the market. Yes, I know about Chase Budinger.

But a new name has popped up since yesterday: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-bas ... al-horford

Yep, it's possible that the Atlanta Hawks may trade superstar Al Horford.

you guys think we could get Jeff Green out of Boston?

you think he's worthy of a starting SF spot?
good fit?

I think we should go after him.

Saw Wallace play live twice last week, despite his stats, he looked done.

If anyone's interested. 3 team trade with Knicks and Celtics. We get Shumpert for Bullock and Wilcox.

He'd be a great fit, but we would have to give up Jamal, which is a big no no for me.

I think Gerald Green and Shumpert are more intruiging.

Another name I'm throwing out there: Pau's brother Marc Gasol. Does he stay a Grizzly, or could he follow in his brother's footsteps.

Secondly, he plays for the Clipper's rival. In sports, my belief is "In competition, there is no such thing as friends, only enemies." Having an enemy play for the Hardcore Clippers could benefit, giving that Gasol is more substance than flash, and Griffin has become more of a jump shooter than a dunker (maybe his jib about retiring from dunking was not meant to be taken as a joke).

Finally, look at the NFL's Manning brothers. Older Peyton and younger Eli have both won a combined three Super Bowls, but the youngest has two of the three. Pau Gasol won two with the Lakers. If the Clippers can somehow make a deal with the enemy to bring Marc, the Gasols could becoming the Mannings of the NBA.

what makes you say this?

you think it's more important to have Crawford than an athletic wing?

Green can create his own offense, I think it would be a great trade tbh.

but in all honesty...I like Jamal so much (even though he can annoy me) that I wouldn't want to ship him to some team that isn't competing.

Ya I love Jamal and he's a huge part of our team. He and Hawes are our 2nd squad offense. We don't win last night without Jamal. I'd rather send Reggie/CJ/picks/money for a 3 who can play D

I think their impact is about the same. Green would make us better in this area but losing Jamal would make us worse in this area, kind of thing. But I've become way too biased with Jamal. Any sane GM would do the deal, I can admit. Would Doc? The problem is Green is paid too much at $9.2 million. If he was paid less we wouldn't have to include Jamal for salary matching purposes. That's why I pointed to Shumpert and Gerald Green because they play the same role and earn less money.

I tell you what though. I would be down for a Jeff Green trade if it meant we could bring back Jamal and Barnes on vet mins after the gracing period. Ballmer can give Boston "cash considerations" to buy those guys out, right? Or is that too much to ask?

i think the new CBA in 2011 nixed that.

you either have to wait a calendar year or next season to be bought out and re-sign....one or the other.

we're gonna have to bite the bullet somewhere....I'm gonna have to be hurt wondering why in order for us to get better.

If I'm looking it up correctly, we have a $80,743,574 payroll, including Delfino and Raduljica salaries that we're gonna be paying for the next 5 years :x
The apron (where we're hard-capped at after using the MLE) is $80,829,000, so we're right there, and any trade we do, we can't absorb a dollar on salary. We also have exactly the minimum 15 player on our roster, so we can't do any 3 players for 2 kind of trade.

Because of that, it's gonna be extremely difficult to trade for Jeff Green or Iguodala or any of those guys with a big salary, unless we include someone like Redick or DJ on the trade (which we won't).

There's not a lot of desirable SF's (if any) we can realistically trade for. One of the best realistic ones I can think of is Dudley, imagine that.

They nixed that? Damn.

And honestly? I'd rather bite the bullet with JJ. I value Jamal's creativity (as well as the other things he does) more than JJ's shooting. Jeff Green can shoot so trading JJ wouldn't be that big of a hit in my opinion. We'd have to find a 3rd team to provide value though, preferably a playoff team in the East.
