D'Angelo Russell to the Warriors.

LOL...even they're doing something on a day like today.

Meanwhile, our do-nothing front office just continues to sit around waiting for a player who's not coming here.

They're sending three first-round picks to get rid of Igudala's salary!

I think they just got bent over as they desperately tried to salvage something out of losing KD.

B-b-b-b-but At Least We Beat The Warriors Twice

Post#908 » by Quake Griffin » Mon Jul 1, 2019 3:50 am

Well....

This was my fear.
That we'd go into a crucial offseason and not do a single thing to upgrade the roster.

It's staring us in the face now unless Kawhi comes to save our offseason and, in the process, us.

Our offseason with Jerry West in our FO:
Trading into the 1st round for Mfiondu and drafting Terrance late in the 2nd.

Bring out the party hats and confetti.

Ran into a snag in Butler deal. Clips need to sneak in and go all in for Butler

They only traded one first rounder. It’s a 2024 First (Protected Picks 1-4). If it falls within those top 4 picks them it becomes a 2025 First (Top 1 Protected). If that goes #1 then it becomes a 2026 First.

Mavericks backed out of the three team deal because of the misunderstanding of players being received

Good. Who else has cap space to help Miami? Us and the other LA team? Which neither would help Miami at all while they both wait on Kawhi.

Not many unless the Knicks did it to be spiteful. Clippers need to work fast and do something

Jamal Murray just got even a more ridiculous contract than DLo.

A lot of teams made a lot of bad moves today. But even if they weren't bad, in a 30-team league, when everybody's zigging you gotta zag. But a lot of them are bad.

The only championship FA is Kawhi. KD is too, but he's 12-18 months away, on workman's comp @ $40M a year. As for the rest, we could have kept Tobias at his near-max [only $2M a year short] from the Sixers. Jimmy Butler ain't gonna win spit with a deeply weakened Miami. He's going there for the weather.

Missing out on Al Horford at $25M a year until he's almost 37 gives me no pain. Brogdon's a nice player, but as a RFA it's gonna cost the Pacers $21M a year plus a 1st-rounder and two 2s. And folks--he turns 27 in December! This is no kid!

Etc.

"Some of these teams really stunk up the joint trying to get all this free agent cash instead of doing their job like Masai Ujiri. Did his job, imagine that. Now they're trying to poach other teams' superstars. I think some of these teams are getting what they deserve."--Charlie Barkley

We're sitting on top of a pile of money in a capped-out league with zero bad contracts on our books.

We're sitting ALONE on top of a pile of money in a capped-out league with zero bad contracts on our books. So we are the zag to the rest of the NBA's zig.

At this point, if Kawhi wants to be a Clipper, wants to be the centerpiece of a building franchise, OK. Here's your max and welcome aboard. Really, we have no instant gratification to offer him now except a nice, no-BS place to work, in his hometown.

Kawhi's weird by pro athlete standards, but there are a lot of quite normal people who don't really ask much more out of life than that. Don't want much more. I'm a headhunter, I know.

But as a headhunter you have to know your "candidates," and nobody on this earth knows what Kawhi truly wants, not even Uncle Dennis. Certainly not me. But since it's no fun to mope and do the Eeyore thing and predict doom and gloom, just trying to think of why Kawhi might say yes.

At this point, it would be not that Kawhi is weird, but that he's kinda normal. Great job with a great org back in your hometown is all we have to offer. A lot of people say yes to that.

You guys have to remember, this front office moves in silence. Just think about the out of the blue trades during the deadline. I have faith that no matter what happens, they have a plan and I believe in them after the miraculous turn around after Lob City
