Make a list for the offseason.
For example...

Keep:
Baron, Gordon, Griffin, Kaman, Outlaw, Jordan, Novak

Go:
Brown, Collins.

What We Need:
Starting SF thats consistant.
Set rotation.

Btw just an example, not exactly what i want.

1 more year of trying for playoffs; If next year fails again, just go full rebuild mode around griffin/gordon/whatever our pick this year is/DJ. We kinda stuck in the middle of trying to contend, but always failing (and getting good picks).

switch out Novak and Brown IMO.

1. Sign Amare or Bosh.

2. Trade Kaman for an upgrade at SF: (not necessarily in this order)

a. Boris Diaw (Kaman + #9 = Diaw/ DJ Augustine)
b. T Prince (Kaman + #9 = Prince/#5) - pick swap
c. Deng (Chi would have to give us something to take on all that $$$)
d. Jeff Green (+ Nick Collison as a backup C.)

3. Use whatever money is left to resign some/most of these players:

- Gooden, Butler, Steve Blake, Outlaw, Craig Smith

1: Baron/Augustine/Blake
2: Gordon/Butler
3: Diaw/Butler
4: Griffin/Gooden
5: Amare/DJ

1. Draft Monroe with our 8/9th pick.
2. Get Griffin to lead our team and get focused again.
3. Make Eric Gordon work on focus and agressiveness.
4. Sign Sofo, resign Craig Smith.
5. Sign Joe Johnson.
6. Test market for BD/Kaman, see what we could get. Ask about Jarett Jack's value. Offer them BD for Jack and Evans for example.
7. Try to nab Sherron Collins with our second round pick. If we cant draft him, move up a bit.
8. Sit on our Minny pick for 2 more years, untill it becomes unprotected.
9. Resign Butler or his type of player.
10. Use remaining capspace to sign a back up pg like Watson.

Realistic:
BD / Watson / Collins
EJ / Butler
JJ / sign veteran sf
Griffin / Monroe / Smith
Kaman/ Jordan / Sofo

We could go big too at times:
EJ at pg
JJ at SG (Those two can switch)
Griffin at SF
Monroe at PF
Kaman at C

The passing and all round game of this squad would be crazy.

Trade Baron Davis. Two options: 2GS for Ellis and B. Wright, or to Detroit for Stuckey and Prince. Draft W. Johnson of Syracuse(anyway we can). Resign Blake, R. Butler and Gooden. Sign A. Rautins or FA shooter/scorer. K. Brown at Vet's Min.
Starters-Ellis, Gordon, (James?) Ok Johnson, Griffin & Kaman. Bench-Blake, McCants(FA), Johnson, Gooden, Jordan. Rautins, Young PG and K. Brown to round out the bench. That's what I'd do. Your thoughts?

McCants? Stay far away from this team. I like trading BD, but not for Ellis (gets lit up by so many pgs its not even funny) or Stuckey (just isnt that good and isnt a pg). I dont like resigning Gooden either. He plays well for us, but doesnt add anything.

We need a bonafide scorer and a completely versatile SF to have a shot Monta fills alot of offensive needs and name any free agent bench scorer as well. I gave an example, U guys say and recycle thoughts quite often.

1. Trade or give Baron the Starbury/Tmac treatment.
2. Hire Avery Johnson or Byron Scott for the head coach position.
3. Approach Eric Gordon on being the playmaker of the team, give him more duties on the offensive side of the ball.

anddd...

Lebron, Wade, or Bosh.

I want our key players to have a healthy and productive offseason and carry that on into the regular season.

Hire a coach with a proven track record. Our guys need a coach that knows how to get the most out of his players. We need a guy that players are going to respect and want to play defense for. I'd rather us go for the name/experienced coach rather than an unknown. That eliminates a few names off of the list. That doesn't mean that those candidates wouldn't do a good job if given the chance, I just want more assurance going into next season.

Select BPA in draft. If we have the type of lotto success that we did last year, then I'd be happy with either Turner or Wall. If we end up at 7-9, then I'd want us to take a player with the biggest potential payoff in the long run. My preference would be either Johnson or Monroe. Johnson fills a need, and Monroe would be a player that could pay dividends in the future.

In Free Agency, the only player that I have a true desire to keep is Butler. Clippers have needed a shooter for the longest, and most shooters that come to the Clips seem to forget how to shoot. Butler had a stretch where he was like 1 for 16 or so from 3, but he has since shaken off those shooting woes. He's now the Franchise leader in 3's made. He's an iron man that has played in every game, unlike the rest. I'd love to see him back if at all possible, he claims that he would like to be here next year as well. It will all come down to money and opportunity though. Blake can be solid off of the bench and Smith has shown that he can be a monster in the paint. He's also a hometown guy, so I think there's a good chance he would like to stay. My concern is that his role would shrink if we bring over Sofo, Jordan emerges and Blake isn't putting in any time at the 3.

In Free Agency, I'd like to see us make strong pitches for LeBron, Wade and Bosh. After that, see what Johnson and Gay are asking. If it's too much then we strongly need to consider filling the hole at SF by absorbing a contract through trade.

I think it should depend on what our pick is like this year. If we get a top3 pick somehow, I think we should completely gut the team and rebuild around the pick, griffin, DJ, and maybe gordon (not a big fan of his though). We would have to trade Baron and Kaman for expirings and tank the season again, but it would be good experience building for the young guys. Save cap space for 2011 and don't pick up anyone this year.

If we get a pick in the 8-9 range, we should probably just make another playoff run. Resign Rasual, Steve blake. The pick we get will probably be used on a foward, so can probably skip on Smith/gooden. Aim for the FA's but expect to only get a 2nd tier guy. This Team badly needs shooters and a defensive oriented coach. Also we need to hire someone to tell baron to stop chucking up 3's each game; hes never been a great 3 shooter.

I'm more in favor of rebuilding. I'm used to losing (I still watch EVERY game no matter what) and taking the OKC route and try to start the rebuilding process now. In 2-3 years once the pieces are in place, the texas triangle, and phx will be out of gas, and the lakers will be nearing their last legs and we will (hopefully) begin to emerge as a powerhouse in the west.

Liking some of these ideas, i wanna stay with Baron but get a coach that can brush off the little things in Baron's game that is frustrating (like chucking up those 3's). When Baron gets going he's exciting to watch and obviously gets people involved very well.

I'd like to sign a big name like JJ and see who we could get for Kaman.

Well Clippers are towards the bottom of the league in scoring and three point field goal percentage, so obviously they need to adress these issues. They are actually in the top 10 in points allowed and blocked shots. That being said, I feel they really need to adress the small forward position with somebody that could score.

1. Worst case scenario with the 10th pick: Clippers take Xavier Henry. Hes 6-6 220 with 7 foot wingspan and shot 41% from three last. At the NBA level, I could see him playing 20 minutes per game next season and average 10-12 ppg and shoot 36-38% from three.

2. Free Agency: They should just come to the realization that they are not going to get LeBron or DWade to come to L.A. Clippers. They should go all out at getting Joe Johnson. If they cant get Joe Johnson, then they should just go down the line: Bosh, Stoudamire, Boozer. Or maybe they could offer Minisota's pick next year to Memphis in a sign and trade for Rudy Gay, given that its a reasonable amount of money. If one of the power forwards is aquired, then Blake could come off the bench or used as trade bait.

We can trade Minny's 1st w/BD and the rights to Sofo for Mayo & Thabeet. Mayo is the prize here and Thabeet still could prove to be decent(they have Gasol). Trade Kaman for Prince straight up(it works). Draft Wes Johnson(future SF), resign Blake, Butler, Manu/RayRay(MLE), K Brown(vet min) and a young Pg. Starters=Jordan, Griffin, Prince, Gordon, Mayo. Bench= Thabeet, Johnson, Butler, Blake. Saves money and more depth. Still need a backup PF/big(LPowe, Maxiell, CSmith)

The Clippers should consider trading Blake Griffin to Golden State or Washington for the 3rd or 4th pick in the draft. I saw enough video footage of Wes Johnson, to make me think he would be a great fit on the Clippers. I mean, the guy has his flaws but he looks like he is going to be a good player in the league. That would fill the hole at small forward. Next, the Clippers would only have to focus on filling the power forward position, which would be much much easier to fill. The draft is loaded with power forwards and there is a bunch of them in free agency. Heres an example of how it could go:

PF-Boozer 19ppg/10rpg/50% fgs
SF-Johnson 15ppg/6rpg/38% three point fgs
C-Kaman 18ppg/9rpg/2bpg
PG-Davis 15ppg/8apg/2spg
SG-Gordan 17ppg/3rpg/38% three point fgs

Imagine Davis bringing the ball up court, having two good post players to throw the ball to and out on the wing you have two lights out shooters that are also super athletic?

Keep:
Gordon, Griffin, Outlaw, Smith, Jordan, possibly Butler

Go:
everybody else

What We Need:
A PG who cares for 82 games
A Center who plays hellish defense and rebounds well(a la Brendan Haywood)
A jack of all trades SF, perhaps in FA or draft
Depth
Set rotation.
Good coach
Good GM

Only thing Thabeet has shown is the ability to get into foul trouble easily. He's still a couple years out and at best will be a dalembert-type player. Mayo is just another version of Eric Gordon (albeit, a slightly better version). If we stay with baron, we HAVE to get a 3 that can shoot 3's (and hope blake griffin can shoot a long 20 footer consistently as well). We have terrible floor spacing atm, and teams are happy to let baron chuck away whenever he feels like it.

scoobs why in the world would we trade Blake Griffin? he's played what... 3 preseason games, and he's looked good. But got injured for the season, give the guy a chance lol
