So many SFs to consider

Post#1 » by DangerCurtis » Thu Jun 3, 2010 4:38 pm

I know our "hopeful/reaching" candidates would be Lebron James followed by an outside chance at Wesley Johnson or Aminu.

But within our range, there's a ton of other candidates to consider. While they may not jump out at us immediately it's worth noting. In the draft, it seems like we're considering Luke Babbit, Paul George, and Gordon Hayward.

My question is: Are the three above mentioned guys even worth consideration since we own the bird rights to R. Butler and T. Outlaw? There's a lot of talk about those three guys being too high for consideration at the 8th pick, and if we can't manage to acquire one of the "hopefuls," why not draft according to talent and resign Butler and/or Outlaw?

Also, it may a bit difficult to pull (depends on how savvy Olshley is) but I'd like to see the team try to trade the 8th for one of the three SF draftees + cash or asset and consider bringing back Outlaw and/or Butler. Opinions?

I think there's a lot of SF's we can pick up in free agency or via trading almost nothing. I think our draft pick is going to be for a PG. I have no idea who that may be.

Some consider Avery Bradley as a guy that could turn himself into a pg over time.

Though, i really hope we'll go BPA, if we stay at #8, or that we trade down if we take a guy like George, Hayward or Babbit.

BTW: SF is one of the easiest positions to fill in this league, especially when you've got guys like Blake and EJ at pf and sg, cause the guy at sf "just" needs to be solid defensively and able to hit a jump shot from 15 feet and out as long as he isn't called Lebron.

Oh, and if i haven't mentioned him for about a month or so, i really think that Ime Udoka should be someone we should go after. Great defender, real good perimeter scorer and doesn't needs the ball in his hands on offense.

I really liked watching Hayward in the tourney, but think he's a reach at #8. Really nice college player, unsure how he'll translate in the NBA.

I hope we resign sual and not bother with outlaw. As for the SFs in the draft im just not excited about any of them. Would go rather go for a sf through a trade.

Out of Sual and Outlaw, I'd rather have Sual back as well.

I'm so glad you mentioned Ime Udoka. I think he is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Not many fans know about him, but he is a very good role player, who can hit the three and play solid defense. He is also supposed to be a high character guy that other players love to play with. I believe the last few years he has been playing for the minimum, so I would look to sign him to come off the bench after we use up our cap space.

I think it would be in our interest to trade down for two lower picks and take one of those players and maybe a Euro.

Clippers should sign Rudy Gay!

Basic Starting Lineup Of:
Baron Davis - Eric Gordon - Rudy Gay - Blake Griffin - Kaman

that's a very good lineup.

Would be better resign Outlaw than sign Rudy Gay, trust me. Rudy Gay just can't play team.

Given that SF is a hole of ours and the fact that there are a couple in the range we will be drafting, I think we pick SF even if we sign a guy, or re-sign Outlaw.

Aminu or someone will fall to us, I guess people like George. I haven't really watched any of them play except for Hayward in the tourney.
