It's close, real close, to the time we've been waiting for since the team stopped competing and wasted another year, after that Marcus Camby trade.

We're not even three weeks away from this years draft and another one from free agency.

We've got five players under contract and i'd only trade one of them if we get something better in return. As this will hardly happen, i'd keep Kaman, Griffin, EJ, Baron and DeAndre.

In this years draft, we'll most likely look to add a small forward, cause all of those other guys available and worthy using a lottery pick are power forwards, with the exception being Xavier Henry.

That's why i'd trade down with Memphis and send them our #8 for their #12 and #25 selections.

After that, i'd go in this years draft and take either Paul George or Gordon Hayward at #12.
At #25 we might be able to get someone like Eric Bledsoe of Kentucky and fill our void at the back up pg/sg spot, making him the third guard in a three guard rotation.
With our 2nd round pick we select PF Luke Harangody out of Notre Dame.

Going in this yers free agency, we've got lot's of cap space but not a real good chance at Lebron, who either signs with Chicago or Miami, or re-signs with his Cavs.
Therefore we go another route and try to make the Clippers one of the deeper teams of this league.

First of all, we sign Mike Miller for 4 years and $25 mil.
After that, we make sure to add some more defensive help at the wing positions and sign Ime Udoa for 3 years and $8 mil.
Then we'll get some veteran point guard for about $2 mil and one year. Guys that i would look at are Anthony Johnson or Rafer Alston.
At last we'll get some more help up front and sign Udonis Haslem for 3 years and $12 mil.

The team then would look like this:

C: Kaman, Jordan, Haslem
PF: Griffin, Haslem, Harangody
SF: Udoka, MIller, George or Hayward
SG: EJ/Miller/George or Hayward
PG: Baron/Johnson or Alston/Bledsoe

I'd rather pick Dominique Jones if we got the 25th pick.

I think Det the Threat makes some good points. What can we do to layer our Clipper team to make it more attractive for free agents in the next year. I like the idea of Hayward at #12. I think you over paid for Miller but, I understand your philosophy on getting him. Does Miller have anything in the tank? Haslem is interesting and someone I never thought of. I think that just his aggressiveness alone sparks teams.

First Udoka would sign for much less than that. He could probably be signed for the vet min, just like he has been for the last 2-3 years.

Second I would not start Udoka. I think he would be much better off the bench. In this case, I would either start Miller or Paul George at SF.

Udoka is alright but to be honest he would probably serve a similar role to Mardy from this season.

The Miller idea I really like. Nice guy for chemistry, passes well, rebounds a bit and can hit the 3 ball.


I would personally try and trade Kaman and attempt to sign a nice SF and a trade for a cheaper mobile big man to run the floor and play uptempo.

I think that starting five would be awesome for running the floor and playing some fun basketball. Whether it would win, I dont know.

Like i've said, some guy that could be the third guard in a three guard rotation. Jones would be another one of those that could fit this role.

I think Miller's still got quite something left in the tank. He'll be 30 when the season starts and should be able to help any team with his shooting, rebounding and playmaking skills. He could take over and initiate the offense, which would get Baron more breaks.

Haslem will only be available if the Heat don't want him back, because they lost Wade and want to start over. Though, if available i think he makes a real good back up PF and could help out some at center as well, if DeAndre doesn't shows enough consistancy.

Yeah, Udoka might be availble for less then i suggested, but you've got to overpay some, if you want someone in free agency.

As far as putting him on the bech, i disagree.

He's a great fit at the sf position, cause he's a real good defender at sg and sf and he's hitting his jumperes on a real good percentage. With Kaman, Griffin and even Baron in need of some touches down low and someone else then EJ to spread the floor, i really see him as a great fit at sf.
Miller would then come in and provide scoring and playmaking for the second unit.

I disagree on Udoka with you, cause he's bettern then Mardy. Other then Mardy he's able to hit his jumpers on a good percentage and helps spread the floor for the other guys. That's why he's a real good fit to me.

I'm not that sold on uptempo and trading Kaman just to be able to play faster. The Clippers FO also said that they want a team that's solid defensively and that they don't think you can win playing uptempo. That's why i have a hard time seeing Kaman being traded and i'm not that mad about it, cause there's no need for it with all that cap space being available to upgrade the other positions.

We'd create a huge hole at C(who's available if we do give away Kaman?), if we're to trade Kaman for a sf, and there's no reason to do something like this, especially if there are guys like George and Hayward available in this years draft and some other possibilities in free agency(either FA signing or sign and trade),

Anyways, keep going and keep suggesting your own scenarios.

None of you guys want T-Mac? I know he lacks a bit of motivation at times, but at this point he'll be super cheap and is still a very talented player. If he wants to play and stays healthy he would do wonders for us at SF.

I'm not a big fan of signing Rudy Gay, because he'd cost quite some money and isn't all that great of a fit, especially on the defensive end.
Greg Monroe's got all the talent of this world, but i've got that Chris Wilcox feeling with him. I might be wrong on this one, but he seems like someone that isn't always giving it his all and therefore not able to play as well as he should be.

I think that's exactly the point why he's hardly being mentioned for this years free agency.
Of course he could bounce back and play some solid basketball down the road, but he won't be the same he was before his injuries and i'm not sure what i would pay for someone like him.
Though, i fully expect him to land another solid contract this sumer, most likely joining one of the better teams(like Boston, San Antonio or one of those winners of this years free agency) as a sidekick to their superstar or third option/6th man on a deeper team.

I simulated the first season of a dynasty and cleared some space for Lebron on Live 10.

Unfortunately it didn't go to plan, everyone but Bosh resigned (he went to OKC) and TJ Ford was 4th best available FA. Funnily enough, the names I signed as a last resort are turning up in this thread.

Why do we still entertain thoughts of adding Mike Miller? I think he is the most referenced non-Clipper as Clipper ever...

I agree with the idea of trading down. But if we were to sign Mike Miller who would likely become our starting SF, I would then just take BPA at our original pick. I wouldn't be surprised if we were able to get a 'steal' at our spot with someone falling to us who was supposed to go higher.

I like the idea of trading the #8 pick for #12 and #25 from Memphis if Aminu and Johnson don't drop to the Clippers. Paul George and Bledsoe look like a good couple of players to add to the current roster, although both may take a couple of seasons to develop.

As for the other signings, I wouldn't be interested in signing Udoka at all, he has fallen off dramatically over the last 2 seasons and wouldn't be a rotation player. He is shooting 38% overall over the past 2 years and doesn't provide the length the length the Clippers need at SF. I'd much rather either go with a resigned Rasual Butler or even Travis Outlaw than Udoka. The only way I would sign Miller would be on a much shorter deal, 2 years at 4 million per season, given his injuries and lack of productivity over the past couple of seasons.
