Is a Blake Griffin = Prime KMart comparison fair?

Both are very strong and athletic power forwards. Kmart in his prime can jum all over the place either finishing a play or going for the block. He is also a good post defender. I think that is what Griffin will bring to the Clips. He wont get more touches than Kaman since Kaman will be more of our go to go in the paint. Anyone think thats fair?

Blake didn't play much. Still hard to tell in my opinion. But Blake has all the tools to be a force in the NBA.

Me too. But Amare has perfected that mid-range jumper. If Griffin can do that then we've got a superstar on our hands.

I would really love to pair them up and have the most fearsome front line in the NBA.

Who would play what position since Amare has said he doesn't want to be C and neither are really a SF? It sure would be fun watch.

Griffin can't be compared to KMart until he learns to do the patented KMart combo of a tomahawk jam plus slapping the backboard and then pumping his fist in the air.

There are so few real centers in the league that it doesn't really matter. Assuming Kaman won't be here, Amare can play that position against most competition. The hard part in PHX is he didn't have any other bigs around him. Robin Lopez is just another Side Show Bob. Here he would have Griffin next to him, DJ as a backup, and maybe Gooden on the bench.

If Kaman stays, then we have a huge front line with all 3 of them, Griffin moving to the 3.

Fair comparison I say, he could be potentially better (ball handling and shooting) but really just now he seems pretty raw much like Kmart.

To the above /\ Amare is a real liabilty on the defensive end, especially at center. Also look at his rebounding rate.

I think Griffin would be a better defender in the post than Amare, but Amare has a better shooting touch and will be more polished offensively. Look for Griffin to get his points on lobs, tip ins and just those hustle plays. They will go to Kaman more but Griffin will clean up the garbage.

I could see how you can compare Griffin to K Mart in his prime. Though I thought K Mart was always a good defender and that Griffin may have some work to do on the defensive end. We have only see him play in summer league and pre season, so I say it's still to be determined exactly how good he will be and how his game can be compared.
