Alright it is time for me to come to grips with the fact that this team will never be good or great while Sterling is the owner. Sigh. I hope for all the best for you guys and the team. Maybe Geffen will be the owner some day. After 10 years, I'm hanging up my clipper jersey and becoming just a general nba fan. Time to go back to ballboy status.

Sucks we couldn't get anyone major, but I'm glad that we didn't overpay anyone ala Travis Outlaw, John Salmons or Drew Gooden. Plus, we still have about 10 million to work with

Time to get creative with a trade. I still think it could be possible to nad a guy like CP3 if he continues to express his displeasure on the Hornets. If we could pair CP3 and Blake together, I would love it.

Kaman/Gordon/Rights to Aminu for CP3/Okafor?

We could include a third team if needed.

Uhh.. You guys realize it's only been a week since free agency has started right? We still have cap space? Did I miss a memo? Guess you guys would have been glad paying Rudy Gay 80M and would have called a a sucessful off-season.

Honestly, who are the Clippers really going to get to join the squad? They still need a starting Small Forward and I would love for them to make a deal to try and acquire a Trevor Ariza or Shane Battier. But it adds depth to the bench and don't allow rookies to just fill it all up.

PG - B. Davis/E. Bledsoe
SG - E. Gordon/R. Foye/W. Warren
SF - A. Aminu
PF - B. Griffin/R. Gomes
C - C. Kaman/D. Jordan/Sofo

So I think back-up PG & starting SF is where we need to fill out the positions.

Wow, how are you guys hating the signings? Would y'all rather pay Mike Miller 9M per? Travis Outlaw 7M? Seriously? Keep in mind we've still got 10M+ to spend.

I'm not very impressed with Foye, but Gomes is a very solid team player. Should help. I wonder who they'll go after with the additional $. Perhaps Harrington?

Foye will be good for us. He'll be a big piece off the bench and he will provide instant offense. I think we were one of the lowest scoring teams last year.

Now if we can just get a legit SF.

Since this forum loves former Clippers players, how about Bobby Simmons at SF?

This!

We have a solid youth core, a few decent role players on bargain contracts, an All Star Centre, capable former All Star PG and a new coach.

Come one guys, we finally got rid of Dunleavy, don't quit now!

Relax Clipper Fans, at least we are not Cavalier fans, now thats a team in termoil.
Gomes, and Foye are going to be solid back ups for aprox 4 mil a year, and are short term contracts. I think this is nice, and I wanted Outlaw to come back, but not at 7 mill a year, ouch.

There is still some solid SF left, like Mike miller, 9 million, we could afford that for like 3 years, that way miller and davis come off their contracts the same time. Butler is still out there. I would love to see Clippers go young and get Dorrel Wright, ya we wont win a champ next year, but the team would be really entertaining.

Clippers dont have 10 million to spend more like around 13. Clippers would have 10 million after Big Sofo contract.

10 million, there is a lot one could do with that, like a trade.
Still would love to see Miller, Butler, or Wright in that order.
Plus Still need a BU PF/C to round out team, would love to see either Johan Petro or ian Hohainmi.
And would love to see Livingston Back
PG Davis/Blesoe/Livingston
SG Gordon/Foye/Warren
SF Miller(Butler or Wright)/Aminu/Gomes
PF Griffin/Jordan/Sofo
C Kaman/Petro(Mahinmi)

May not be a champ team, but would be an entertaining team 13 million left to spend, could happen

Miller is on the Heat.

We still have somewhere between 10-12M to spend. So we do have options. I would like to see us make another signing or two in addition to Sofo and Warren, but it has to make sense. So far, it appears that the goal for Olshey is to add decent players on decent contracts. I'd rather do that than overpay like a lot of these teams are doing. I hope we're on the phone exploring trade options to teams willing to part with a SF for little in return. :D

In my opinion, I think these are actually excellent moves for the Clips, both short term and long term. When you think about it, Foye and Gnomes will add quite a bit of depth to the roster; similarly, they're on 2 and 3 year contracts respectively at $4 million a year each. Since having cap space is all teams want right now, in a year or two, Foye and Gnomes' contracts will be very appealing to teams around the league. Not to mention, I have a sneaky suspicion that Olshley is trying to accumulate a handful of similar contracts to make a trade for a decent SF... maybe T. Prince? But that's just a hunch.

Let's face it, the only SF worth a max contract in this free agency is Lebron James and obviously we didn't get him. Rather than blowing all our load on who is left: i.e. Korver and Childress, I'm rather happy to see the moves Olshley is making right now.

Like the Foye sign to back-up EJ but I hate the Gomes move if he is our starter hell no to that idea.

Analyzed as individual transactions, I think these were very good pickups. Foye had sort of dropped off last year, but he's a free pickup for us, we didn't spend a #7 lottery pick on him. And Gomes seems like a hard worker type with some outside shooting ability (if he could take a few more 3PT attempts and still get 37% I would gladly take that.) Now as to the overall plans...

Our draft really changed the entire complexion of the team.

Before, the focus was perhaps on Baron and Kaman, and the idea that with a big FA signing we could win now, if maybe not challenge for a NBA title (depending on the FA.) Honestly, the idea of Baron and Kaman in the same starting lineup is still an anathema to me, both players are quality but it makes no sense to have them together IMO. But whatever, landing LBJ would have obviously made us a great team. Not that I ever thought there was even a remote chance...

So now...we have a ton of young talent under 21. Blake Griffin, Aminu, Bledsoe, DJ, even EJ is still a youngster. With a roster like that, the focus really needs to be on developing that youth. I am happy with giving up some wins next year, to develop these guys and hopefully have a great squad in the seasons after next. I think it was amazing that we actually had Bledsoe on the board with our pick (in case Aminu was gone), and we ended up getting both of them.

I would still love to sign Mike Miller or someone else, but look at this FA market. There has not been a single major transaction that I wish the Clippers had made (besides guys like Wade and LeBron), and likely Mike Miller is going to get a contract longer than we'd want to give (he's 30!) Keep in mind we still have Baron and Kaman, there needs to be enough touches for our youngsters. NBA teams don't practice much during the season, I want to see these guys play. Not only that, but learn to play together.

The only big contract that I thought was pretty reasonable was Carlos Boozer. He has his deficiencies, but I think he will do great if paired with a good center like Noah. But we certainly wouldn't have gone after Boozer anyway since we have Blake Griffin. The other good acquisition that was just made was Minnesota basically getting Beasley for free. But again, power forward...and we now finally have Sofo to look at as well.

The big loser in this perhaps is Willie Warren, he's going to have to play really well or show some real flashes during Summer League to earn a roster spot with the Foye signing.
