Richard Jefferson??

I was wondering what you guys thought about the Clippers possibly obtaining Richard Jefferson? I feel like he'd be a great pickup for the Clippers because he's a solid SF who's scary on the offensive end and decent on the defensive end (I feel that his defense has been declining). He's also still in his prime, and he seems like a great locker room guy, but would we be able to afford him? And do you think he would be a good fit for the Clippers? In my opinion I feel like he's the final piece we need to get into the playoffs next year.

PG - Baron Davis/Eric Bledsoe/Willie Warren
SG - Eric Gordon/Randy Foye (I consider RF a SG)
SF - Richard Jefferson/Al Farouq Aminu/Ryan Gomes
PF - Blake Griffin/Craig Smith (hopefully he gets resigned)
C - Chris Kaman/ DeAndre Jordan

To me, this team looks amazing! I'm extremely excited for next year

At this point, I wouldn't mind the Clippers picking up Jefferson. But he'd have to be willing to take limited years, for if or when Aminu comes into his own, he'll be the starting SF with the rest of the younglings, and trying to get rid of Jeffereson's contract after 2 or 3 years will be a burden.

Although, it maybe far fetched, but I have a sneaky suspicion Olshley is trying to cumulate a collection of these short term contracts to try and trade for a starting SF. In a year or two, the contracts will be appealing to teams who are trying to shed cap space; it just seems a bit odd picking up Cook, Foye, and Gomes when we're in desperate need of a starting SF.

I like the idea of Jefferson basically cause of the reasons you said, he's solid on both ends and is an exciting player with experience. Id be extremely happy if we picked him up.

Ditto. At this point, our options are limited, and Richard Jefferson seems like he'd be a good fit and provide some needed offensive power.

No longer than a two-year deal though.

I agree. Jefferson is a legit starting SF that could be a real difference maker. On the other hand, since we've decided to go with a youth movement, we could always leave the SF signing for next year, or try for a trade, and in the meantime, hope that our core takes this opportunity to improve as much as possible. We'd probably miss the playoffs again, but the year after, if we can pick up a starting caliber SF, we could definitely be in the race for a playoff spot.

Either way is fine for me. While I don't want us to make a bad signing, I'm kind of tired of waiting for a winning team, and with Jefferson, it's like making our weakest positions into one of our stronger ones (or at least not a liability).

I'm surprised that Jefferson hasn't been signed by anyone yet, maybe he's just taking free agency at a comfortable pace. Jefferson and Josh Howard are decent options for starting SFs.

At this point? I wouldn't mind as much as I would have a week ago. The problem is that it would be in our best interests to keep the deal short. Since Jefferson gave up about $15M, he's going to want to get some of that money back (i.e. more years). If we could sign him for a short term contract, I'd probably bring him on. I'm still holding out a little hope for Brewer, but won't hold my breath.

I dont want to sign Jefferson for more than 2 years.
But I dont think he and Clippers could agree on terms. He is not gonna accept 2 year 12-14mil contract.

b/c nobody wants RJ and J-High is a drug addict ala L-O during his Clipper years.

I would love to sign Jefferson. I think he is the best SF right now that is available. If we were to sign him then we would be solid at every position. I think San Antonio was a bad fit for him. Baron is a better assist PG than Tony Parker who is a better scoring option. Jefferson would be another player that can run the floor along with Griffin and Gordon.
